Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Early-Career Geologist, Hydrogeologist, Environmental Scientist, Environmental Engineer as part of our contaminated site assessment and remediation practice in our Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania office. The position will have the opportunity to apply academic knowledge to real-world situations while also learning the business skills needed for a successful consulting career. Candidates are responsible for coordinating their own transportation to and from the office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Interact and build working relationships in a diverse office of professionals and provide valuable contribution to real-world environmental projects, including a variety of environmental compliance, investigation, and/or remediation projects.
  • Fieldwork such as soil, surface water, and groundwater sampling, air monitoring, stormwater inspections, environmental and geotechnical drilling and contractor oversight, aquifer testing, geophysical investigations, and remediation system operation & maintenance.
  • Chemical data and contaminant fate & transport evaluation.
  • Groundwater and soil remedy evaluation, cost estimation, and implementation.
  • Aquifer testing and hydrogeologic data analyses.
  • Groundwater modeling and 3D data visualization.
  • Environmental due diligence, regulatory compliance services, and permitting.
  • Data input and analysis, including preparing maps, tables, and figures.
  • Preparation of technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals.
  • Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety (HAZWOPER), first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.
  • Travel to project sites as needed with potential for overnight, company-paid travel.
  • Work related travel is reimbursed.

Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in geology, hydrogeology, environmental science, environmental engineering, chemical engineering, or related field. (required)
  • Advanced degree. (preferred)


Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Prior research experience in geology, hydrogeology, contaminate fate and transport, remediation, environmental engineering or related experience. (preferred)
  • Prior internship experience in environmental consulting. (preferred)
  • Experience with ArcGIS Pro, Microsoft Access, AutoCAD, Modflow, and/or EVS. (preferred)
  • Outstanding academic credentials and exceptional interpersonal, technical writing, oral and written communication and problem-solving skills. (required)
  • Local to Pittsburgh, PA area. (required)
  • Regular field work and overnight travel. (required - up to 60% when necessary)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
