JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

PSU 1, First Year Seminar, helps new students learn about skills and resources to help them succeed in college.Working with first-year students is a challenge and an honor. We are seeking faculty and staff who are interested in working with and supporting our first-year students. It is rewarding to welcome our new students-some are well-prepared, some are quite nervous, and most need support to make the transition to college.

Instructors will receive course materials, a collection of useful resources, and training. Some sections will have an undergraduate peer assistant and support from librarians and staff. The PSU 1 course has a common syllabus with various topics identified for weekly discussion, activities and assignments. Every section will have a short list of required common elements. Beyond those required elements, section instructors may choose from a menu of options (or propose new components) to best serve the needs of their students.We will have a brief orientation meeting in May, and then a pre-fall semester meeting of all faculty instructors and Peer Mentors. We will also have a Canvas Pride where instructors can ask questions and share ideas over the summer.
