Registered Nurse (RN) Ambulatory Urology

General Summary of Position
As an Ambulatory Urology RN, you will assist in urology procedures such as cystoscopies, catheterizations, and various other diagnostic and therapeutic interventions. You will perform both pre- and post-procedure assessments to ensure patient safety and comfort throughout their care journey. Additionally, you will educate patients on post-procedure care, medications, and overall urology health management. Collaboration with physicians and support staff is essential to ensure seamless care delivery and a positive experience for every patient. Delivers proficient nursing care to patients and families whose needs range from uncomplicated to highly complex. Receives supervision from the Nurse Leader and functional supervision from the clinical coach/designee. May at times receive functional supervision from other registered nurses.

Minimum Qualifications
Education

  • Associate's degree in Nursing required
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred
  • For new graduates hired with an Associate degree, employment with MedStar Washington Hospital Center is contingent upon enrollment into an accredited BSN program within one (1) year of employment, and continuing matriculation in the program to achieve a BSN within 5 years of the program start date. Proof of enrollment to be submitted to Nurse Leader.

Experience

  • Prior clinical nursing experience preferred

Licenses and Certifications

  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure in the District of Columbia required
  • CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days required
  • Additional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit.
  • C-EFM - Electronic Fetal Monitoring from the National Certification Corporation (NCC) is required for Perinatal nurses (labor and delivery, antepartum, antenatal testing) within 12 months from date of hire. New graduate nurses or new to specialty nurses (labor and delivery, antepartum, antenatal testing) will have 15 months from date of hire to obtain the EFM certification.
