Setting: Hybrid/Onsite

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Summary

The Assistant Director, Housing Support Services Program (HSSP) in partnership with the Senior Director and Director, will oversee the HSSP for adults residing in both Scattered Site Housing & Project Based Housing. The HSSP is a specialized program that provides comprehensive and intensive field-based community mental health services designed to meet the unique needs of individuals in Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) who are formerly homeless and have a Severe Mental Illness (SMI) or Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED). The Assistant Director will monitor and support all administrative aspects of the HSSP, funder expectations, contract goals and outcomes to ensure compliance. The Assistant Director will also oversee and support the HSSP onboarding and training aspect of the program. The Assistant Director will provide administrative and clinical supervision if appropriate to staff, including Program Managers, Clinicians, and Clinical Interns. This position is responsible for maintaining the efficiency of operations while fostering teamwork among staff and across departments and programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Senior Director and Director of the Housing Supportive Services Program, the Assistant Director is responsible for the following:

In collaboration with the Director, monitor all administrative aspects of agency's Department of



  1. Mental Health (DMH) contracted HSSP and contract, including billing and contract maximization in compliance with contract goals and outcomes in a timely manner.
  2. Attend meetings, respond to email correspondence, develop and maintain appropriate relationships on behalf of the Director and staff.
  3. Represent agency interests at Department of Mental Health meetings, as well as other DMH HSSP county-wide meetings.
  4. .Ensure productivity goals and outcomes are achieved, including a minimum of 65% of staff time being in direct service provision across program; including DMH documentation standards and guidelines.
  5. Support the coordination of clinical services and activities with outside agencies, partners, and funders; including the coordination of referral processes.
  6. Collaborate with Clinical Quality Assurance and Billing Department to ensure compliance of program requirements,
  7. In partnership with the Director, provide individual and team supervision, support, and performance evaluations for all assigned staff.
  8. Assist in recruitment, selection, training, supervision, and evaluation of direct service staff
  9. Collaborate with Quality Assurance to ensure proper staff orientation, training and audit preparedness for all clinical and mental health contracts.
  10. Complete required reporting to LA County Department of Mental Health as outlined by contract requirements.
  11. Support psychiatry needs such as, data collection, client coordination, invoices, and reporting.
  12. Support the HSSP Intern Program as needed.
  13. Assist in crisis interventions as needed



Requirements and Qualifications:



  1. Master's Degree in the field of Social Welfare or Marriage and Family Therapy, or doctorate in psychology or related field; Licensure preferred.
  2. Minimum of four years of experience in the field of mental health and/or substance addictions.
  3. Strong working knowledge of Medi-Cal documentation and requirements.
  4. Outstanding clinical review skills
  5. Strong training, project management, and team-building skills
  6. Able to behave with sensitivity, tact, politeness and responsiveness with staff and clients
  7. Detail-oriented with excellent time management, organizational, written, verbal, interpersonal, presentation, and computer skills
  8. Knowledge of trauma-informed services, housing first and harm reduction methodologies.
  9. Experience providing administrative and clinical supervision
  10. Contract and quality assurance experience
  11. Current valid CA Driver's License with good Driver record, personal vehicle, automotive insurance


Work Environment



  • Combination of field and office environment
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend; occasionally lift or carry up to 35 lbs.
  • On occasion walk or drive to different local sites
  • Will necessitate working in busy and loud environments
  • Will be exposed to elements like cold, heat, dust, noise and odor
  • May need to bend, stoop, twist, and sit throughout the day
