PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Transportation Load Planner receives shipping and distribution orders from internal departments, ensures inventory is available, determines method of shipment, secures correct equipment to accommodate the load, communicates shipment dates and verifies delivery dates with carriers.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

This position reports to the Transportation Supervisor and does not supervise staff. Position works closely with dispatchers, customer service, Contract Manufacturing, Planning, Purchasing, Ingredient, warehouses, plants, carriers, customers, distribution centers and insurance companies.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR ENTRY:

KNOWLEDGE OF:



  • Principles and practices of providing customer service.
  • Office administrative and management practices and procedures, including record keeping.
  • Principles and practices of effective business communication; basic report writing methods and techniques; correct English usage, including spelling, grammar and punctuation.
  • Mathematics and general accounting.
  • Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations.


ABILITY TO:



  • Read, understand, interpret, apply, explain and reach sound decisions in accordance with laws, regulations, rules, contracts, procedures and policies.
  • Exercise independent judgment and initiative within established guidelines.
  • Organize, set priorities, schedule assigned work; oversee multiple and rapidly changing priorities.
  • Prepare clear, concise, and accurate correspondence, documents, reports and other written materials.
  • Effectively organize, plan, and execute.
  • Use discretion and independent judgment; uphold a certain level of confidentiality.
  • Identify, research, and analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, and project consequences of proposed actions.
  • Use computers and computer software including word processing, 10 key, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Meet behaviors established in Tree Top's performance management and development process.


EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION/LICENSES, AND TRAINING:



  • A High School diploma or GED is required. Associate's degree is preferred.
  • At least one year minimum experience in an office environment.
  • Certification in transportation is preferred.
