Medical Staff Coordinator

Hybrid remote

Summary:

Works collaboratively with Department Chairs/Division Directors, Human Resources, Advanced Practice Nursing, Legal, and/or certification agencies and outside agencies as needed to assist with and maintain policies and or privilege forms and processes through the approval process defined by hospital policy or Medical Staff Bylaws.

Responsibilities:
1.Assists the Manager, Medical Staff Services, Medical Staff leaders, and Sr Medical Staff Coordinator in the coordination, development, review and maintenance of policies relevant to the Medical Staff.
2.Responsible for assisting with the coordination and documentation of the review of hospital departments and chair search committees as defined by the Medical Staff Bylaws
3.Works with Medical Staff leaders and assists them in the work of the organized Medical Staff including meeting coordination, support and internal communication.
4.Prepares agendas, attends and records minutes for assigned meetings.
5.Assists with hospital mandatories including medical staff orientation and medical staff dues as defined by hospital and Medical Staff policies.
6.Assist with workflow of medical staff credentialing assistant with reappointment process and credentialing specialists in credentialing, privileging and onboarding of medical staff providers.
7.Promotes on-going communication and positive relationships between applicants, primary sources, medical staff member offices, hospital departments, managed care organizations and other hospitals.
8.Provides support and backup to the Manager of Medical Staff Services.
9.Other duties as required.

Other information:
Technical Expertise
1.Experience in credentialing practices, medical staff organization, and managed care organizations is preferred.
2.Experience in Joint Commission and NCQA standards is preferred.
3.Experience working with all levels within an organization is required.
4.Experience in healthcare is preferred.
5.Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required

Education and Experience
1.Education: Bachelor's Degree in an applicable discipline, experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
2.Certification: Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist [CPCS] or Certified Professional in Medical Services Management [CPMSM] is encouraged
3.Years of relevant experience: 3 to 5 years is preferred.
4.Years of experience supervising: None.
