JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary: A seafood maintenance mechanic is responsible for ensuring the proper functioning and maintenance of machinery and equipment used in seafood processing facilities. This includes conducting inspections, troubleshooting mechanical issues, performing repairs and replacements, and adhering to safety protocols. The role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with other team members. By effectively maintaining equipment, the seafood maintenance mechanic plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of seafood processing facilities and minimizing disruptions in production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting regular inspections and maintenance of seafood processing equipment to ensure proper functioning and prevent breakdowns.
  • Troubleshooting and diagnosing mechanical issues in machinery and equipment used in seafood processing.
  • Performing repairs and replacements of faulty parts to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.
  • Collaborating with other team members to schedule and prioritize maintenance tasks.
  • Adhering to safety protocols and regulations while working with machinery and equipment.
  • Keeping accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs, replacements, and inspections.
  • Identifying opportunities for process improvement and suggesting modifications to enhance equipment performance.
  • Staying updated with industry trends and advancements in seafood processing equipment to provide effective maintenance solutions.
  • Conducts thorough testing and precise adjustments of equipment to meet and exceed performance specifications.
  • Skillfully sharpens and reshapes tools as needed to maintain optimal functionality.
  • Promptly responds to trouble calls on the production floor, providing efficient solutions and support. Familiarity with hydraulics, pneumatics, and conveyor systems.
  • Proficient in the setup and dismantling of machinery following production processes.
  • Skilled in performing minor building maintenance tasks.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.
  • Acquires knowledge of Trident's Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions.
  • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings.

This is a non exempt position with an hourly rate of $22.00to $34.34.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possession of a one-year certificate from a recognized college or technical school.
  • Proven experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in a seafood processing or related industry.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.

The employee is frequently required to climb or balance.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.

The employee moves objects

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Special Training/Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence; and ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; and able to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to operate a variety of hand tools to include the following: welding machines, cutting torches, and power tools including but not limited to pipe or tube cutters, power drills, power saws, pullers, wrenches, screw drivers, sockets, ratchets, grinders, pry bars, hammers, punches, measuring devices, and chisels.
