Who You'll Work With
You will be based in one of McKinsey's offices in the United States as part of McKinsey's Risk and Compliance function, whose mission is to enable McKinsey's client impact and innovation while managing risks to the firm, our clients and our people. The function is an integrated global team with backgrounds including communications, consulting, diplomacy, government, government affairs and law. You will report to the conflicts manager. You will undertake conflict of interest checks on new engagements submitted across the global firm.
You will carry out conflict of interest checks in the firm's conflicts database on clients and any involved parties identified on each new engagement. You will perform research on entities in external sources. You will have responsibilities that include identifying, clearing and where appropriate, elevating conflicts issues which will include recommendations on how to address.
You will have the autonomy to run robust conflicts of interest checks and analyze data independently, making determinations without oversight, though with the judgement to know when to seek advice and counsel from colleagues. You will conduct conflict of interest search strategy and discount false positives from conflicts reports as well as undertake focused research in internal and external sources. You will collaborate with client service risk colleagues on any engagements requiring higher level risk reviews, and brief findings and convey judgements to partners and other senior colleagues.
You will play an important role in evolving and ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of the firm's conflict of interest processes in a globally consistent way, while also supporting efforts to ensure compliance with relevant firm policies, systems and processes. You will also train and develop more junior colleagues as well as support or lead conflicts or compliance initiatives including policy and procedural refinements and workstreams to continually improve the firm's capabilities.
