JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Hazletonis seeking a temporary InformationTechnologySupportSpecialistto provide technical support to students, faculty, and staff, diagnose, research, and resolve user issues in a timely manner, andserve as the lead technology department point of contact for campus activities requiring technical support.Responsibilitiesof the position include managing and maintaining technology in classrooms and labs, providing support for events and activities, and delivering assistance to the campus technology end-users.

Anticipated 40 hours per week not to exceed 16 weeks.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Maintain and troubleshoot classroom and learning space instructional technologies including computers, A/V control systems, and components.

  • Work with members of the IT department to design solutions for audio-visual integration and technology to maintain a high-quality instructional environment.

  • Provide training to students, faculty, staff, and external groups on the use of technology equipment. In addition, provide training for student lab workers on setups for events.

  • Provide technology instructions in classrooms for ease of use.

  • Manage and maintain classroom and learning space technology inventory including the documentation of design, installation of components, and life cycle plan.

  • Report on problem areas and makes suggestions for future improvements.

  • Provide end-user troubleshooting and support by entering trouble tickets, identifying, and correcting problems, and communicating with other members of the IT team.

  • Manage and support technology used for internal and external campus events.

  • Direct the setup of portable equipment, schedule sound checks, and ensure that technology is in working order.

  • Utilize the University's tools for live streaming.

  • Prepare a life-cycling plan for event equipment.

  • Communicate to the campus community on technology issues and updates.

  • Work collaboratively with other departments to accomplish tasks and goals to aid in the university's mission and vision.

  • Understand and contribute to strategic planning, and department planning and follows University and information security policies and procedures.

  • Perform general administrative tasks, office, and closet cleanliness and upkeep, report production, maintenance of documentation, asset management and inventory, and ongoing task reports.

  • Understands accessibility and incorporates accessibility principles into solutions

Additional duties may include occasional evening and/or weekend hours to provide technology setup, support, and breakdown for campus activities.

Typical Education and Requirements:

  • Associate'sdegreerequired;Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • Plus1-3yearsof related experience.

  • Oran equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience with computer support, event management, and AV experience
