The Assistant Director, Solutions Development, is a leadership role within Facilities Management's (FM) Technology & Innovation (T&I) department responsible for leading solutions development, IT project and program management, business analysis, software and web development, and user experience (UX) design to support Facilities Management's mission to the University. The incumbent will lead a team of software developers, business analysts, web developers, and support engineers that develop and manage a diverse portfolio of enterprise solutions. This position offers a unique blend of technical leadership, strategic planning, and cross-functional collaboration, with a clear opportunity to help drive innovation solutions across Facilities Management's diverse lines of business. Facilities Management (FM) supports the University of Virginia's wide range of research, academic and patient care programs. With over 1,100 employees dedicated to excellence, Facilities Management is responsible for the day-to-day operation, repair, maintenance, construction and renovation of UVA's buildings, infrastructure and grounds as well as other University-owned and leased properties. This position is on-grounds in office full time Pay range- 140-155k Core Responsibilities: Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of solutions engineers, business analysts and software & web developers. Responsible for team performance, business planning, resource management and development of team strategy, and operational and organizational priorities. Provide guidance, mentorship, and direction to ensure high-quality service delivery. Responsible for strategic planning and management of FM T&I's solutions & system development programs. IT Project & Program Management: Manage IT project & program management activities, including resource management, scheduling and prioritization, budget management, status reporting and communication, risk assessment and management, and quality management. Establish and maintain framework(s) for IT project collaboration with internal & external partners. Ensure that technology solutions are effective, scalable, secure, and aligned with University policies and industry best practices. Collaborate on departmental IT initiatives and ensure technical solutions align and integrate seamlessly across the enterprise. Contribute to the development and maintenance of a long-term technology strategy that aligns with Facilities Management's business goals. Solutions Development & Business Analysis Management: Actively engage with FM departments to identify, analyze, and deliver IT projects that add value to the business, including problem analysis, requirements definition, business case formulation, project scoping & definition. Develop solution options & technical requirements. Work with stakeholders to identify optimal solution. Evaluate and recommend sourcing and project delivery options. Manage implementation and delivery of solutions. Determine and manage long-term operational support model for enterprise applications. Software Development Management: Responsible for management of T&I's software development life cycle (SDLC). Manage development resources to align with organization-wide strategies, goals and priorities. Define, operationalize, and manage software development practices, policies, procedures and standards. Research, assess and define organization-wide technology stack and development tools. Manage IT Service Management (ITSM) practices. Web Development Management: Responsible for management of T&I's web development program. Mentor and provide guidance and direction to the web design and development team. Provide leadership of the creative and design strategy for FM's web presence. Develop and implement strategic vision for FM web presence across multiple web platforms and technologies. Provide leadership in the design and maintenance of a consistent and cohesive information architecture for FM's web presence. Guide selection and implementation of web development and design technologies across FM. Lead efforts to ensure FM websites deliver an outstanding user experience. User Experience & Engagement Management: Lead user experience & engagement program to enhance user satisfaction and engagement across digital platforms. Oversee the design and implementation of user-centric strategies, ensuring seamless and intuitive interactions with technology solutions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align user experience initiatives with business goals and deliver a cohesive and impactful digital presence. Lead, mentor and provide guidance to communications and graphic design team. Required Qualifications:
