What you'll do

Software and Platforms is a central function to Viasat that sits at the core of our business and focuses on innovative technology development and engineering. The team maintains a center of excellence for SW and platform technology and related innovation, translating market needs into products and services to enable market development and ensure they are constantly pushing the boundaries of satellite based services.

We are looking for a motivated, passionate, and professional individual to join our Test and Verification Services team as a Test Engineer.


The day-to-day

* Develop and improve test procedures
* Performing test campaigns using manual and automated test procedures
* Perform technical analysis and generate reports from test results/data
* Effectively communicate results from testing activities to management
* Lead meetings involving sub-contractors and/or customers
* Raise / Review / QA defects, for escalation to the relevant parties, including sufficient information to reproduce the defect
* Identify required configurations to support test campaigns


What you'll need

* Previous related work experience and a degree in a relevant technical subject (Engineering/Physics/Computing/Networking/etc.)
* Experience testing user interfaces (UI/UX)
* Experience using test management tools (Jira/ X-Ray)
* Knowledge of test automation software (Selenium, Cucumber, Gherkin)
* Previous experience in testing and/or fault analysis
* Understanding of OO Principles (Java, C++) and Scripting Languages (Python)
* Experience in using Linux (Redhat, Debian)
* Communicate effectively, with excellent spoken and written English
* Produce clear, well-structured documentation
* Work well within a team
* Able to work autonomously and have a good eye for detail
* Comfortable traveling alone and interfacing with our international customers
* Be flexible and a quick learner
* Diligently focus on and complete tasks with a sense of urgency
* Able to identify and systematically analyze problems/issues/bugs
* The ability to independently manage and prioritize their own tasks
* Good technical writing skills


What will help you on the job

* Quality Assurance and Project Management experience would be advantageous
* Experience in testing within satellite systems, or telecommunication networks
* Experience in API testing (Unit, Functional, Load Testing, etc)
* Knowledge of networking concepts (TCP-IP/DNS/DHCP/Network Routing/ICMP)
* Experience using relational databases


Salary range

$105,200.00 - $155,100.00 / annually.
For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $130,700.00- $182,900.00/ annually
