JOB SUMMARY
The Fire Alarm Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing fire alarm systems in residential and commercial buildings. This includes testing and inspecting fire alarm systems, replacing components, and responding to emergency service calls. Ensuring that fire alarms are functioning properly and in compliance with current fire codes and safety regulations. Troubleshooting and diagnosing problems, as well as identifying and repairing faulty components. Fire Alarm Technicians will also provide technical support and instructions to customers on the proper use and maintenance of the fire alarm systems.
JOB SPECIFICS
The Fire Alarm Technician position is a regular full-time non-exempt position. This position reports to the Corona/SoCal Office and will work in the Southern California Market.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Install, program, upgrade and maintain fire alarm systems and equipment
- Perform regular inspections and maintenance of fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, smoke alarms control systems, etc.
- Troubleshoot and repair problems with fire alarm systems
- Install conduit (EMT) as needed for repair, replacement or installation
- Keep accurate records and reports of all fire alarm systems inspections, documenting issues and repairs
- Inspect installation sites, and study work orders, building plans, and installation manuals to determine material requirements and installation procedures
- Ensure that work is in accordance with relevant codes, such as electrical and fire codes
- Provide reliable and high-quality customer support
- Demonstrate systems to customer and training customers on fire alarm systems
- Consult with customers and clients on system requirements, provide recommendations and cost estimates
- Maintain company vehicle in a clean and organized manner and maintains necessary truck inventory/stock
- Maintain documentation of service and hours worked
- Maintain and use PPE in prescribed manner
Qualifications
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent and Vocation Training
- NICET certification preferred (requires prior experience or training)
- Knowledge of NFPA standards (including 70 and 72)
- Must have at least 4 or more years of experience with fire alarm systems and experience with both residential and commercial systems
- Low voltage experience and intrusion systems a plus
- Must have strong understanding of local/national fires safety codes and standards
- Knowledge of electrical theory and wiring techniques
- Valid Driver's License and good driving record

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

- Use vision abilities including close, distance, peripheral, depth, and color
- Sometime work in difficult positions/circumstance with ladders, scaffolding, high lift equipment, ducts, crawl spaces, attics, above ceiling, etc.
- Lift, move and hold up to approximately 50 lbs.
- Must be able to drive a motor vehicle (day and evenings) for extend time periods
