What You Can Expect Working in the Offshore Field Service Technician Position

The Offshore Field Service Technician is part of a team of service personnel who support our growing offshore segment of business by completing refurbishment projects and service customers assets for RedGuard's/Armoda customers. In this role, you will perform all aspects of onshore and offshore field service and will have access to a pool vehicle (company truck depending on qualifications of role), depending on to provide customer support, and complete refurbishment and commission work in accordance with company quality and safety procedures, building, maritime and international codes, and client specifications. When not directly working on Armoda fleet or refurbishment projects, you will support the service yard in the maintenance and modification of other RedGuard/Armoda assets including blast-resistant, modular buildings and other industrial buildings. In this role, you will be required to work independently or as a team while upholding RedGuard's values of quality and safety. You will participate in both scheduled and non-scheduled callouts on- and offshore, as needed. Offshore Field Service Technicians are integral in providing a great customer experience to ensure RedGuard maintains the status as a preferred vendor for our clients. You will provide a quality and positive experience for our customers, while creating efficient and cost-effective results to better the organization. You may qualify for a company issued vehicle depending on the needs to provide timely support to our customers.

In this role, individuals are expected to work onsite at our Production Center in New Iberia, LA if they are not scheduled to work offshore. This role is non-rotational. You will participate in both scheduled and non-scheduled callouts on- and offshore, as needed

Responsibilities
  • Installs accommodation and zoned modules on- and offshore for production and drilling operations.
  • Installs generators and transformers, both step up and step down.
  • Assesses, repairs or modifies buildings to company, regulatory body and customer specifications.
  • Comprehends materials, components and makeup of the building to be serviced.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and provides prompt service.
  • Maintains parts inventory on service truck and offshore job boxes.
  • Manages sub-contractors on job site.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of the construction field, including skills in carpentry, plumbing, electrical and/or HVAC.
  • Must be able to travel frequently, including participation in a rotational callout schedule.
  • 3+ years of experience installing and troubleshooting HVAC units and electrical components and Instrumentation and Electric (IE) controls, or, 3+ years of experience as a marine joiner (carpenter/plumber).
  • Minimum of 1-year offshore experience.
  • Calculation of ampacity.
  • Knowledge on fire and Gas installation, testing and interfacing with client systems.
  • Ability to install and service many different styles and designs of HVAC systems.
  • Knowledge of different types of refrigerants and charging of refrigerants, including, but not limited to, R22, R134a, R404, and R407.
  • Experience with custom cabinetry, floating and self-leveling flooring installs.
  • Installing and repair of SIP panels bunks and interior marine finishing's
  • Ability to perform a site survey and provide a detailed scope of work.
  • Ability to perform site surveys for installations of accommodations.
  • Ability to work under short time restraints.
  • Knowledge of repairing commercial galley and laundry appliances.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOT Medical Examiner's Certification [Medical Card].
  • Ability to obtain a TWIC card, HUET, Offshore FIT, and perform annual offshore training.
  • Ability to operate forklifts, manlifts and aerial platforms.
  • Basic computer skills, including MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Electrical - Preferred Qualifications
  • Journeyman trade license or 5+ years' experience in one of the selected crafts.
  • EPA license.
  • Understanding of USCG PAM, DNV 2.7-1, DNV 2.7-2, SOLAS regulations
  • Understanding and work knowledge of offshore production, drilling and maritime facilities
  • Understanding and working knowledge of the refineries and their relation to Turn Arounds, Outages and shutdowns.
HVAC - Preferred Qualifications
  • Journeyman trade license or 5+ years' experience in one of the selected crafts.
  • EPA license.
  • Understanding of USCG PAM, DNV 2.7-1, DNV 2.7-2, SOLAS regulations
  • Understanding and work knowledge of offshore production, drilling and maritime facilities
  • Understanding and working knowledge of the refineries and their relation to Turn Arounds, Outages, and shutdowns.
Joiner - Preferred Qualifications
  • Journeyman trade license or 5+ years' experience in one of the selected crafts.
  • EPA license.

Work Environment

  • Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects; able to work on roofs and at heights in excess of 8 feet or better, able to wear all of the designated proper PPE during an entire 10 to 12-hour shift while on site; able to understand and follow all of the safety requirements including Lock Out/Tag Out, the proper operation of tools, equipment, vehicles and handling if materials.
  • Visual Acuity Requirements: 20/20 vision or correctable to 20-20 vision and able to wear (if needed) prescription safety glasses while on the job and operating equipment without having to wear contacts.
  • Work Conditions: Working in the four seasons of the year in the continental United States and Canada. Varying conditions from hot and humid to wet, cold and sometimes freezing temperatures.
