Development Chemist

As the Development Chemist, you will provide analytical support as related to Pretreatment & Electrocoat products, performing analytical testing on a wide range of products, customer baths, and raw materials as well as any new or peripheral products as necessary to support the business. You will be expected to have some knowledge in the care and maintenance of analytical instruments, calibration, setup, and cleanup.

Responsibilities:

• Ability to follow experimental procedures and work independently to generate reliable data in a timely manner.

• Ability to work as part of a team with daily and weekly cadence in a high throughput analytical laboratory.

• Strong communication skills with customers, technical leads, and service organization and ability to define customer requirements and appropriate priority.

• Assist in development of new test methods and processes as needed.

• Equipment calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

• Validation testing, researching and specifying new lab equipment needs.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry, Engineering Technology, Engineering, or related program of study.

• 0-3 years of Analytical Lab Experience.

• Technical training or experience with multiple equipment such as with 2 more of these examples or similar: ICP Spectroscopy; FTIR Spectroscopy; pH measurements; Ion selective electrode (ISE) applications; Titrations; Gas Chromatography; UV-VIS/Colorimetry; and Optical and Scanning Electron Microscopy.

• Basic proficiency with Excel, Word, Outlook, and excellent attention to detail.

• Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate complex ideas across various levels of technical knowledge.
