GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

This position supports hypersonic material evaluation programs within the Department of Defense and NASA. The job requires the candidate to have both computational skills and model assembly skills supporting the installation of high temperature instrumentation. Responsibilities include a broad range of electrical and mechanical assembly operations. Working with limited instruction under general supervision by using laboratory skills such as soldering and installing thermocouples and other high temperature instrumentation in test specimens.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:



  • Assemble, solder, and install high temperature instrumentation in test specimens
  • Maintain current Kratos SRE inventory by receiving and pulling required materials
  • Coordinate with technical team to ensure customer delivery schedules are met on time
  • Organize and maintain electrical component inventory
  • Follow developed processes and procedures for assembling hardware in accordance with engineering design

  • Compute and combine data and report findings to supervisor
  • Apply skills in model assembly procedures, instrumentation techniques, and software tools as part of a larger team to meet customer deliverables on schedule
  • Exercise good judgment within defined practices and procedures to meet all deliverables on time
  • Exhibit strong initiative to accomplish assigned tasks from a variety of established procedures independent of direct supervision
  • Perform other duties as may be required by supervisor

Required Experience:

Experience and Skills

Minimum Qualifications

US Citizenship required.

Must be able to obtain/maintain security clearance at a level equivalent to Department of Defense (DOD) SECRET

High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Demonstrated proficiency in working with experimental research data.

Assembly, soldering and instrumentation experience.

Demonstrated hands-on technical skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Strong math skills.

Basic comfort using computer software in technical related discipline.

Must have a demonstrated ability to work in a team lab/office environment with excellent communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

5 years of experience in technical field

Experience reading and following engineering assembly drawings/instructions

Test model assembly experience

Familiarity with engineering testing

Process improvement experience

This position involves work in a laboratory/office environment and could require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including:

Safety glasses

In performing the work for this position, the engineer must be able to:

Perform work utilizing a computer for extended periods of time.

Sit for extended periods of time without being able to leave the work area.

Stand for extended periods of time without being able to leave the work area.

Climb ladders and stairs in performing the work.

Walk for reasonable distances in performing the work.

Lift / carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs. in performing the work.

Pull or push objects weighing up to 50 lbs. in performing the work.

Travel

Moderate overnight travel, domestic and international, required for onsite test support
