Requisition ID req31071 Working Title Library Info Specialist 2 Position Grade 09 Position Summary The College of University Libraries and Learning Sciences (CULLS) seeks a Library Information Specialist 2 to provide excellent customer, circulation and reference services, along with facility oversight to ensure a safe and productive learning environment. Incumbents will bring library and/or public service provision experience and skills, a proven ability to work effectively in a team environment, and interest in learning new skills. This position is based in the Zimmerman Library with a 4:00 pm to 12:00 am Sunday through Thursday schedule. Weekend day shifts may occasionally be required. The successful candidate will join Access Services, the team that helps UNM and community library users access information by providing services across multiple library buildings and online in the areas of circulation, resource sharing (Interlibrary Loan/Document Delivery), technology lending, course reserves, information and research help, and collection maintenance. Within the UL's main campus buildings, we provide comfortable and dynamic spaces to support individual and collaborative learning. We also offer programming within library spaces to engage our campus and community with information and ideas. The Access Services team is based in three open library facilities on UNM's Central Campus and the high bay, high density repository on UNM's South Campus. Zimmerman is the state's largest library located at the heart of the state's flagship university. This 300,000 square foot building is home to over a million volumes, the Center for Southwest Research, the department of Organization, Information, and Learning Sciences, the Adobe Creative Commons, the Indigenous Nations Library Program, and a variety of student spaces designed for both individual study and group activity. Incumbents will perform moderately complex and specialized tasks in a fast-paced public service setting within University Libraries. They will monitor daily operations and participate in implementing and communicating operating policies and procedures. They may coordinate, prioritize and oversee the work of other staff and/or student employees. Regular work assignments may involve service and process improvement. Contributing to creating an inclusive environment for all library users is an ongoing responsibility. The University Environment: Founded in 1889, the University of New Mexico sits on the traditional homelands of the Pueblo of Sandia. The original peoples of New Mexico - Pueblo, Navajo, and Apache - since time immemorial, have deep connections to the land and have made significant contributions to the broader community statewide. We honor the land itself and those who remain stewards of this land throughout the generations and also acknowledge our committed relationship to Indigenous peoples. We gratefully recognize our history. UNM is a Tier I Research Institution, a Hispanic-serving institution, and the flagship university in a majority-minority state. To support UNM's diverse campus constituents and colleagues, the College affirms its commitment to honor diversity, ensure fairness and access, and create an environment where all employees are treated respectfully. These commitments include the support of the CULLS IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Accessibility) Committee and the College's Anti-Racism statement.
