Job Overview
The incumbent follows plans/specifications torepair, overhaul, maintenance, and servicing of HVAC systems and controls including but not limited to, commercial, industrial, and residential heating, ventilation, air conditioning systems, and refrigeration units. Keeps management aware of unique situations and problems encountered. Work Model: Onsite
Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
- Maintains, repairs, overhauls, maintain, and services HVAC equipment and control systems, including but not limited to, heating, air conditioning, cooling systems, heat pumps, chilled water systems, convection and radiant heaters, refrigeration, ventilation, direct digital control systems (DDC), energy management systems, compressors, condenser units, breaker controls. Systems may be gas, oil fired, electric or water.
- Works from blueprints, drawings, models, and/or verbal, written instructions to install compressors, motors, condensing units, evaporators, piping, and other components.
- Diagnose and correct problems using necessary tools, gauges, and equipment.
- Receives and evaluates work orders and requests; investigates requests or problems and initiates appropriate remediations and corrective repairs.
- Must be able to resolve conflicts at the lowest levels.
- Seamless coordination with supervision to outline work required; then to follow up to ensure company and contractual objectives are achieved.
- Ensures proper housekeeping practices are observed in all areas of responsibility to include maintenance shops, shop maintenance vehicles, outlying maintenance areas, mechanical rooms, jobsites, etc. Ability to perform assigned work tasks without more than normal supervision.
- Coordinates with other personnel in the identification of proper and correct materials, parts assemblies, and requirements for a variety of requisitions.
- Participates in snow removal and other emergent operations.
- Assists in any trade when necessary to accomplish maintenance activities.
- Maintains and operates company vehicles and/or tools and equipment in compliance with company policy.
- Supports the project Safety Plan though personal involvement in all aspects of Safety, including training, safety protective equipment and clothing, and adhering to safety requirements pertaining to particular trades or skills.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Mandatory:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED).
- Three (3) years' verifiable experience as a commercial HVAC technician or at the journeyman level.
- Experience in troubleshooting electronic controls, timers, relays, and complex control panels.
- Knowledge of the methods, materials, equipment, and tools used in the HVAC trade.
- Ability to read and interpret plans and blueprints, schematics specifications, operating and maintenance manuals.
- Knowledge of codes and regulations.
- General knowledge of hand and power tools and diagnostic test equipment.
- Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
- Ability to acquire and maintain government identification/common access card.
- Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
- Valid state Driver's License with acceptable driving record pertinent to the position.
- Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract.
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Ability to obtain access to U.S. Government Installations through the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS).
