LOCATION: Remote - must live in or near Forsyth County, North Carolina. This position will cover Rowan, Rockingham, and Stokes County. Must be willing to travel as needed.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

The Community Training Specialist is responsible for planning, organizing and facilitating community trainings for key community stakeholders. These trainings include Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA), and Question Persuade Refer (QPR). The Community Training Specialist assists or coordinates the planning and/or facilitation of Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training classes for Law Enforcement and First Responders. The position is also responsible for other ad hoc trainings as requested by the community. In addition, the Community Training Specialist supports the Learning & Development Department in the delivery of required Tailored Plan (TP) training.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Community Education:

  • Assist with the design and development of training content, curriculum, learning materials, and workshops by utilizing industry standard methodology for assessment, design, development, implementation, and evaluation
  • Practice cultural humility in the development and delivery of all trainings
  • Utilize engaging training course content (videos, quizzes, and activities)
  • Select appropriate instructional methods, defines time frames, and prepares training materials as directed for in-person and on-line formats, or blended learning (as is appropriate for the specific training and learners)
  • Facilitate small and large group training activities
  • Provide established evidence-based trainings and education to community stakeholders
  • Administrative responsibilities: schedules training sessions; tracks and confirms registrations; prepares handouts; sets up training rooms (in person or virtual); prepares sign in sheets, evaluations, and any other needed items for training
  • Follow up with trainees after each course to collect any additional feedback
  • Assist with the evaluation of existing training programs and delivery methods and ensure they are optimized for maximum skill absorption
  • Participate in researching and evaluating new and alternative training delivery methods

Tailored Plan (TP) Training:

  • Learn and maintain an on-going knowledge base of TP requirements
  • Facilitate and/or co-facilitates TP training sessions
  • Support the delivery of required TP training to meet the goals of the Learning & Development Department

Other duties as assigned

including representing Vaya Health at community exhibits and fairs

  • Knowledge of MS Teams or other virtual webinar platforms

QUALIFICATIONS & CREDENTIALING REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field (Psychology, Social Work, etc.) or Physical Health field (Public Health or Nursing) required.

  • Three years of experience as a training coordinator and/or trainer

Preferred experience:

  • Bi-lingual preferred (Spanish/English)
  • Training Certificate or Virtual Training and Facilitation Certificate preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparation and analysis of documents; viewing a computer terminal; and extensive reading.
  • Physical activity in this position includes crouching, reaching, walking, talking, hearing and repetitive motion of hands, wrists and fingers.
  • Sedentary work with lifting requirements up to 10 pounds, sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Mental concentration is required in all aspects of work.

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT: This person must live in North Carolina or within 40 miles of the NC border.


SALARY: Depending on qualifications & experience of candidate. This position is non-exempt and is eligible for overtime compensation.
