Job Description:


The Azure Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines and ETL jobs to ensure effective data access and interpretation across the enterprise.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Data Pipeline Architecture:
    Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture.
  • Data Assembly:
    Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional and non-functional business requirements.
  • Process Improvement:
    Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements, such as automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, and redesigning infrastructure for greater scalability.
  • Platform Management:
    Manage and support data engineering platform tools using technologies like Microsoft SQL Server, SSMS, SSIS, REST APIs, and Azure Cloud Platform to move data from various sources, including flat files, Excel, Oracle, SQL Server, XML, XSL files, and JSON files.
  • Infrastructure Development:
    Design and develop a robust data engineering infrastructure to support optimal ETL processes from diverse sources, utilizing SQL, Microsoft Azure, AWS, and advanced big data technologies.
  • Testing and Maintenance:
    Develop and perform unit tests; maintain up-to-date code in source control.
  • Collaboration:
    Collaborate on code reviews and adhere to change management processes to deploy changes to production systems.
  • Troubleshooting:
    Troubleshoot issues reported by users and perform root cause analysis for production issues with minimal guidance.
  • On-Call Support:
    Participate in on-call rotation to provide support and implement fixes as needed.



Requirements:

  • Experience:
    5+ years in a Data Engineer role.
  • Education:
    Graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
  • Technical Skills:
    Proficient in T-SQL, Stored Procedures, Functions, and SSIS with the capability to implement REST APIs. Experienced with cloud data platforms like Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Fabric.
  • SQL Knowledge:
    Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience with relational databases, query authoring (SQL), and familiarity with a variety of databases.
  • Big Data:
    Experience building and optimizing big data pipelines, architectures, and data sets.
  • Analytical Skills:
    Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured and semi-structured datasets.
  • Process Building:
    Experience building processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency, and workload management.
  • Data Manipulation:
    A successful history of manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large, disconnected datasets.
  • Team Collaboration:
    Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
  • Testing and Validation:
    Experience in unit testing, data quality validation, and data analysis.
  • Communication:
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal Skills:
    Good interpersonal skills with proven problem-solving abilities.
  • Security Knowledge:
    Knowledge of cloud data and platform security, with a preference for AWS and Azure.
