Greasing the wheels behind the scenes, our people in Operations are the backbone of our Company. GENERAL FUNCTION The Coating Technologies Director leads the Group Lens Innovation Deployment (GLID) Coating Technologies team in the North America and South America zone. The goal of the team is to define and maintain process standards to improve Operations performance, develop and deploy technical new products, and deploy new sustainability standards (energy, water, waste reduction and new chemistry/consumables to meet regulations). MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Define and maintain process standards to improve Operations performance, develop and deploy technical new products, and deploy new sustainability standards (energy, water, waste reduction and new chemistry/consumables to meet regulations). -- Manage zone projects and/or work closely with zone/DPI project managers for global key initiatives/large-scale programs. - Coordinate the management of change w/ the GLI teams in France and Asia systems and GLI standards in link with the WW Centers of Excellence (formerly known as the Techno Clubs). - Provide guidance on working within the organization. - Remove impediments to individual progress. - Assist team in developing SMART goals. - Actively support career management activities for each team member - Help develop and support individual development plans for each team member.
- Provide effective technical guidance. - Actively participate in project and programs, support activities as needed.
- Propose and champion new ideas for products, processes, organizational functioning, equipment and studies.
- Utilize input from global GLI Light Management & Coating Technologies groups to develop local team goals. - Champion local initiatives and requests to integrate into the global direction.
- Actively consider overall GLI and EssilorLuxottica goals and objectives in local goal development.
- Support local budget activities including drafting annual opex and capex budgets. Track and manage spending to budget on a monthly basis.
- Communicate broadly on relevant topics and information. - Communicate team activities, progress, future plans and results to the rest of the organization. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum Bachelor Degree in a technical field (chemistry, physics, various engineering disciplines etc.). - At least 7 years of technical or Project management experience - Optical Lab knowledge preferred with a strong focus on Coating Technology activities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication - Ability to work and communicate effectively in a team and multicultural environment.
- Ability to work with all members of working groups, skill levels and expertise - A high level of demonstrated technical proficiency and aptitude (ie: problem solving skills, scientific methodology, statistical analysis, etc.). - Ability to work independently and as a team member to accomplish objectives
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize - Demonstrated sound judgment and decision making skills - Flexibility in work assignments to accommodate group and individual goals PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS M.S. Engineering Employee pay is determined by multiple factors, including geography, experience, qualifications, skills and local minimum wage requirements.
