Job Description
The WHFC Radio Station Assistant assists the WHFC managers in ensuring the station operates within FCC parameters and fulfills its Mission Statement. Duties include but are not limited to: Assisting WHFC managers to ensure automated air shifts are properly prepared; Carrying out production duties relating to WHFC public affairs programs, publi8c service announcements, underwriting credits, and station promotional announcements; Assisting with computer automation needs, including, but not limited to, log creation, music and program downloading; Assisting with recruitment and training of student and community volunteers. Performs on-air shifts as required; Representing the station at campus/community events; Assisting with fundraising activities; Previewing music submissions; Acting as liaison with music labels; Assisting in the maintenance of station Public File; Carrying out Internet streaming and music royalty record keeping; Ensuring that all on-air shifts are adequately staffed; Acting on behalf of the station supervisors in their absence; Perform specific job tasks/functions unique to position as assigned by supervisor.
Required Education
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Required Experience
One year of radio broadcasting experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Knowledge of broadcasting and radio station operations.
  • Familiarity with FCC rules for non-commercial radio.
  • Experience in social media management and social media marketing.
  • Ability to monitor and adjust the broadcast transmitter.
  • Proficiency in reading and following programming logs and production orders.
  • Skill in operating radio control boards and related equipment.
  • Competence in downloading/uploading music and radio programs on Windows-based systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent writing and speaking abilities.
  • Commitment to promoting diversity in the workplace.
  • Ability to manage multiple ongoing projects.
  • Focus on maintaining customer service and satisfaction.
  • Capacity to learn and perform job functions accurately.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual proficiency.
  • Office 365 proficiency.
  • Familiarity with Zetta or other radio automation systems.
  • Familiarity with Audacity or other digital audio editing systems
  • Ability to foster a culture of ingenuity and continuous improvement
  • Bachelor's degree in Broadcasting, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field
