Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Sr Analyst to join our team. In this role, you will perform critical analytical, forecasting, and planning functions in collaboration with the Section Manager. You will spearhead the development and application of cutting-edge analytical techniques to ensure our CECONY Gas Peak Demand forecasts and analyses, as well as volume and revenue reports, are created using state-of-the-art methods and visualizations. Additionally, you will play a pivotal role in implementing AMI data extraction and analyses on our existing models and support the development of a new granular peak demand forecasting tool in partnership with Gas Operations. A key aspect of this position involves building and supporting dashboards using Power BI to enhance our reporting capabilities. You will also monitor and report on forecast Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) on a monthly basis, ensuring our team remains at the forefront of industry standards. Furthermore, you will be responsible for presenting your findings to all levels of management, including the President and CEO, as well as to external agencies such as the Public Service Commission (PSC).

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Prepare the Companys official Peak Demand Forecast for CECONY Gas on an annual basis utilizing state of the art modeling techniques and present results to all levels of upper management.
  • Prepare various Peak Demand Forecast sensitivity scenarios as needed for CECONY Gas.
  • Prepare analyses of historical load and energy consumption by customer type as necessary using AMI data, and advanced visualization models by segmenting demand by customer type and location to ensure complete and accurate data is used in our forecasts.
  • Evaluate and critique econometric and/or end-use forecasting models for internal applications or adoption. Develop and implement new forecasting models as required.
  • Assist with the analysis of historical volumes/sales and/or revenue for specific customers, customer groups or system wide data to assist in developing a complete and accurate database for forecasting.
  • Represent the department at meetings with CECONY, Orange and Rockland Utilities, and other external parties on issues related to peak demand.
  • Verify accuracy and consistency of data used as inputs to the models and forecasts and develop improved methods of gathering/tracking data.
  • Assist in the implementation of a new Gas Distribution Forecasting Tool currently being built by a contractor/vendor and ensure our needs will be met during testing of such application.
  • Assist in the implementation of Big Data, Deep Learning, and Machine Learning when using large data sets such as CPMS and AMI customer load profiles to produce meaningful analyses.
  • Assist with related functions and Company meetings with other companies and government agencies on the matters related to peak demand forecasting.
  • Monitor and report on associated forecast related KPIs and other performance measures.
  • Monitor and report on KPls and other performance measures.
  • Perform wire guard duty during electric emergencies and support director during steam emergencies.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Master's Degree in Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Business or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years' full time related work experience or
  • Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Business or equivalent and a minimum of 3 years' full time related work experience.
Preferred Education/Experience
  • Master's Degree in Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Business or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years' full time related work experience in Data analysis, time series analysis, regression theory, forecasting.
Relevant Work Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of full-time utility experience in analytical, technical, engineering, forecasting, and/or modeling. Required
  • Must be an advanced level user of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Required
  • Basic knowledge of statistical forecasting software such as E-views. Required
  • Knowledge of rate design, billing, and revenue reporting systems is a plus. Preferred
  • Experience in forecasting/modeling of electric, gas, or steam or equivalent forecasting/analytical experience is a plus. Preferred
  • Knowledge of Python and visualization tools such as Power BI is a plus. Preferred
Licenses And Certfications
  • Driver's License Required
Additional Physical Demands
  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
  • Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed.
