Your Opportunity

As part of the corporate EBX (ESAB Business Excellence - our version of lean/Toyota Production System) organization, the Corporate EBX Director will be responsible for providing EBX deployment support to our operating sites and corporate functions. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence, improving efficiency, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. The role will require significant travel (~65-75%) which will be a mix of domestic and international (mostly within the Americas, but occasionally to other geographies). The home location for this US-based position is somewhat flexible, but preferably near one of our operating sites or corporate headquarters. This position provides the successful candidate with an excellent opportunity for broad exposure to our various businesses and their leadership teams. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of lean methodologies, strong leadership skills, and a proven track record of successful project management.

What you will do
  • Provide master-level guidance to our operating site leadership teams for driving process and cultural transformation through EBX.

  • Partner with ESAB sites to drive significant improvement in quality, on-time delivery, operating costs, and inventory via appropriate application of EBX principles and tools.

  • Shepherd development of a Model Value Stream within each supported site as a means of creating robust, scalable learning.

  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of lean initiatives. Monitor and report on progress, providing actionable insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.

  • Act as change agent in challenging existing approaches and performance.

  • Mentor and coach plant managers and teams to build local EBX capabilities and sustain improvements.

  • Guide and develop site level EBX professionals.

  • Conduct and/or coordinate EBX training. Assure quality of training conducted by operating site EBX personnel. Conduct "train-the-trainer" sessions as needed.

  • Act as consultant and/or leader for kaizen events as required.

  • Guide planning for rapid deployment of EBX tools and processes during acquisition integration. Assist local leadership in acquired businesses with the execution of EBX deployment plan.

  • Provide support to Corporate VP - EBX and develop tools, methods, and programs for use across the corporation.

What we are looking for
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with 2+ years in a significant leadership role (Value Stream Manager or higher).

  • Deep and broad knowledge of lean/TPS principles and tools.

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully implement lean/TPS principles within low volume, high mix manufacturing environments and in office processes.

  • Ability to effectively train and mentor others on lean/TPS principles.

  • Outstanding group facilitation, training, communication, and presentation skills.

  • Effective and collaborative problem-solving skills.

  • Self-motivation, drive, energy, and resilience.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills: positive, persuasive, motivating.

  • Demonstrated talent for building effective relationships with individuals at all levels in the organization.

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

  • Strong business acumen and financial analysis skills.

  • Track record of successful Lean/Toyota Production System implementation in a manufacturing environment is essential.

  • Willingness to travel ~65-75% both domestically and internationally (mostly within the Americas, but occasionally to other geographies).

Education Requirements
  • BS degree in accredited engineering, physical sciences, or business program.

  • MBA or MS degree desirable.

Preferred
  • Fluency in English language is required. Spanish and/or Portuguese language skill considered a plus.

  • Previous experience with acquisition integration is considered a plus.

  • Previous experience in consulting and/or multi-site support role considered desirable.

  • Working knowledge of Six Sigma techniques with Black Belt certification considered a plus.
