Description
Acara Solutions is looking for a Locomotive Mechanic for our partner located out in Kearny, NJ who specializes in transportation manufacturing.
Here is what you will get:
Shift: 7am to 3:30pm
Compensation: $37/hr
Objective:
  • Mechanical lead for locomotive overhaul and rebuild program.
  • Lead mechanical installation of all equipment per original equipment manufacturer (OEM) instruction / repair manuals.
  • Ensuring timely completion of activities while complying with our environment, health and safety (EHS) process.
Here is what you will do:
  • Mechanical lead for maintenance, repairs and rebuilding of locomotive & sub-systems listed below:
    • Prime mover and head end power (HEP) engine, alternator, fuel system, cooling system and oil lube system installation and troubleshooting, build-up and installation of compressors, operator's cabs, car-bodies & all hatches and radiators
  • Must be able to align engine/alternator
  • Responsible for training new employees to understand and utilize standard operating procedures (SOP), as well as the safe use of specialty tooling.
  • Portable and overhead crane operations
  • Forklift operations
  • Fabricating and using cost-saving tools for factory use.
  • Troubleshooting & repairing defects on all locomotive systems
  • Ensuring compliance with all applicable rules, instructions, and standards:
    • Code of Ethics and Compliance.
    • Environment, Health and Safety
    • Railway Safety
    • Quality
    • Project Management
Job Requirements
Skills / Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of four years related experience in Locomotive build/repair and overhaul
  • Expert knowledge of locomotive build and repair/ overhaul
  • Knowledge of railway products and systems
  • Ability to train new recruits.
  • MIG and Arc welding
  • Forklift / Scissor lift operations.
  • Portable and overhead crane operations - certified
