SOS Temporary Staffing (SOSTS) SOSTS is part of the University of Missouri-Columbia Human Resources department providing temporary staffing services for the entire University of Missouri System. Many of our temporary staff are hired into full-time regular jobs at the University. If your goal is full-time employment, becoming an SOSTS employee is an excellent way to get your foot in the door! Job Description The University's temporary staffing needs change daily! These positions are typical of the requests we receive for office staff:
Salary Pay range is $14.00 per hour and up. Pay varies from department to department and depends on duties, responsibilities, and the department's budget. Shifts Hours vary depending on the nature of each assignment. Most office assignments happen Monday to Friday between 8 AM and 5 PM. On rare occasions, early morning, evening and/or weekend hours may be needed. Minimum qualifications

SOSTS temporary staff are variable-hour employees and not eligible for University benefits. However, eligibility for medical insurance is different because of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA). Under the PPACA, some variable-hour employees become eligible for UM System medical insurance while staying ineligible for the University's other insurance plans. To see how the UM System is meeting the requirements of this law, refer to Medical Insurance Eligibility. Also, there are UM System voluntary retirement plans (VRPs) which are accessible to all faculty and staff regardless of eligibility for other benefits. Refer to Core and voluntary plans for details.
