Summary: The Senior Financial Analyst will support the financial management of Trident's seafood manufacturing operations. This role will take on accounting and reporting tasks as assigned and will be actively involved in key analysis and insights to guide decision-making and drive financial performance. This position will be located at Trident's Bellingham, Washington facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitors and analyzes trends in cost variances, production volumes, and material usage and implements timely adjustments where needed.
  • Facilitates accounting month-end process by preparing accrual journal entries, raw material cost allocations, reclassifying operating expenses and distributing manufacturing variances by product and categories.
  • Generates and distributes periodic spend, inventory, and production reports.
  • Uses analytical techniques and metrics to identify and make recommendations to improve operational performance and lower unit costs.
  • Engages in capital planning, including calculating and evaluating financial payback, for all capital expenditure proposals.
  • Supports the annual business planning process for the plant, including preparation of the financial manufacturing business plan and product standard cost inputs.
  • Initiates process improvement projects to update transactional, financial, and reporting processes.
  • Provides financial support for Lean Manufacturing initiatives at the plant level.
  • Provides support with internal and external audit requests as well as compliance reporting to department of revenue, among others.
  • Takes on ad hoc reports and a variety of special 'one-off' analytical projects.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.
  • Acquires knowledge of Trident's Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions.
  • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings.

This is a salaried exempt position with an annualized salary range of $85k to $105k.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.A. in Accounting and/or Finance or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3 - 5 years' experience in finance/accounting
  • Variance analysis experience including price vs. usage
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Manufacturing or food industry experience
  • Financial modeling experience
  • Supervision or other experience
  • Database (BI design, SQL, Access) experience
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Work environment (includes travel/on-call):

This job takes place in a typical office environment: temperature controlled with adequate lighting and has moderate noise.

Physical demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
