Position Summary

Civil/Structural Engineer to support the client's Capital Projects group/team located in Deer Park, Texas.



Responsibilities

Provide technical assurance for Front End Design, Detailed Design, and Installation of Civil Engineering facilities.

Identify applicable Design Engineering Practices (DEP)/Engineering standards for design/construction (i.e. Shell DEP, ASCE, AISC, ACI, AWS, IBC, PIP, API, OSHA, etc.).

Sign off on Basis of Design, IFA drawings, and project premises.

Recommending and advising on sub-surface investigation and hydro-trenching.

Reviewing foundation and structural analysis by others.

Providing guidance on soil compaction and testing, material testing for structural steel bolting and welding, break cylinder compression testing for concrete.

Approving material and job specifications.

Provide support to resolution of field related installation issues.

Attend project related team meetings and other project activities.

Participate in MOC (Management of Change) & PSSR (Pre Start-up Safety Review) sessions for project close-out.

Participate in technical evaluation for competitive bid process.

Ensure final as-built drawings are placed in electronic data base.

Ensure quality QA/QC plans for assigned work.

Ability to work on teams and with diverse workgroups including craft-personnel, vendors, and various engineering disciplines to develop comprehensive solutions.

Review and accept engineering documents for conformance and accuracy.

Make recommendations to the project teams in matters related to structural integrity, constructability, and value engineering.

Provide input to cost /schedule/project execution.

Accountable for delivery of Civil Technical Assurance and Value Engineering for the Capital Projects and Tank Maintenance Portfolios, assigned Civil Infrastructure Programs, and other assigned projects.



Qualifications

Minimum ten (10) years in civil/structural engineering in the Oil or Petro-Chemical Manufacturing environment required

Minimum two (2) years owner-operator experience in a manufacturing plant/facility environment is preferred.

Ability to balance and prioritize competing activities.

Must have Brown Field / Retro-fit experience.

Must be able to conduct on-site field walks to assist in defining project scopes and providing field construction support.

Must be able to work at heights.

Must be able to work in hot and cold environments, both indoors and outdoors.

Must be able to periodically access and work on roofs, scaffolds, lifts, other elevated surfaces with appropriate personal protection.

Physically able to climb, stand, walk, kneel, and crouch for extend periods of time.



Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from ABET accredited University.

Master's Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering is preferred, but not required.

Professional Engineer with Texas license required.
