Student Financial Services

Job Description

The goal of the Student Financial Services office is to serve and support Missouri S&T students and their families by providing accurate and timely information and provide quality customer service to the campus community. This position must gain a thorough understanding of PeopleSoft Student Financials to offer help to students and parents regarding all financial aid and billing activities. An understanding of the campus organizational structure and policies is needed to assist with questions received or route to the proper person or department.

  • Primary contact for SFS counter traffic, daily phone inquiries, and email correspondence received from students and parents
  • Process past student collection efforts, coordinating with external collection agency and creating payment plans for students no longer with the university
  • Conduct reviews of bankruptcy accounts, and process revenue collected from the Missouri Debt Offset Program
  • Process refunds of student accounts with a credit balance
  • Coordinate release of refunds for athletes with NCAA compliance officer in Athletics
  • Review student accounts slated for refund for accuracy of enrollment and release of transcripts; Review for accuracy and adjust holds timely
  • Post mail payments in Student Financials
  • Manages Escheatment process and Employee tuition assistance and dependent tuition assistance
  • Prepare and send communications to students receiving a refund from federal sources that have a past term balance; Students are identified during the refund process
  • Process return check items, paper or online, to include notification of student and preparation of journal entry for departmental returns
  • Monthly reconciliation of Return Check clearing
  • Perform balancing and reconciliation of petty cash and travel funds internally and with external departments
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

Three to five years of accounting experience or collection experience.

Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $18.61-$26.34 hourly.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
