Grade: T26 Learn more about the "T" salary structure. A Research Scientist position is now open for a highly motivated applicant with a strong background in biochemistry, molecular cell biology, or metabolic research. The project focuses on a novel insulin signaling pathway that becomes disrupted in states of overnutrition (see Atherosclerosis 2020;298:42-51. doi: 10.1016/j.atherosclerosis.2020.02.006, open-access).Research involves experimental studies in molecular biology, cell biology, and structure-function relationships and may involve genetically modified mice. The position fits with the scientific and discovery goals of the department. The Research Scientist will be under the direct supervision of Dr. Kevin Jon Williams, Professor of Cardiovascular Sciences, Professor of Medicine. Collaborations with other laboratory members and with other laboratories may also occur. Responsibilities include: execution of biochemical, cell biological, and molecular biological experiments in animals and cultured cells (mammalian, bacterial, yeast), and work with radioactivity; maintenance of a clean and safe work area, as well as adherence to all biosafety standards and policies regarding hazardous materials. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Education & Experience: Required Skills & Abilities: This is a grant funded position.
