Overview

ISHPI is currently seeking candidates in support of The National Vessel Movement Center (NVMC) and Ship Arrival Notification System (SANS) program, that provides The United States Coast Guard (USCG) with 24/7, 365-day Port Security operations support. NVMC personnel receive vessel arrival and departure data in various formats (phone, fax, email, spreadsheet, web service) and provide personnel to perform data entry and data validation into the Ship Arrival Notification System (SANS) database.



Responsibilities

The Operational Watch team provides an array of services for the Department of Homeland Security primarily the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) and Customs Border Patrol (CBP) as well as in-house support for Operations Systems Center (OSC) personnel. All services are provided in a 24x7x365 shift environment and in brief consist of the following items:

    Data processing of Automated Mutual Vessel Emergency Response (AMVER) message traffic.
  • Data processing of Ship Arrival Notification System (SANS) message traffic.
  • Internal quality control functions.
  • Tier 1 application support for USCG, CBP, DHS and maritime industry personnel.
  • Tier 1 maritime regulatory customer support.
  • Network, System and Data floor monitoring, event management and logging services.
  • Other duties as assigned.

This is a full-time position in a 24x7 environment, and requires employees to work various shifts, holidays, weekends and occasional overtime onsite at the Government location as designated by the Contract. Someone in this role must be flexible, intuitive, self-motivated, and demonstrate advanced interpersonal skills. This person must work well both alone and in a highly structured team environment. The successful candidate is goal oriented, highly productive and projects a strong professional image. Initial shift assignment expected to be 3rd shift after completion of training.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day operations and application administration of Windows and/or Linux servers.
  • Technical support for the system including responding to Help Desk tickets and working with users to resolve issues.
  • Installing and upgrading system software and supporting operating system configuration in support of application and database software
  • Performing system upgrades and maintenance tasks for Remedy ITSM software package/customization of Remedy workflow and/or Microsoft SharePoint & Team Foundation Server (TFS) and/or RedHat ActiveMQ & Axway API server.
  • Evaluate Security Scans, STIG compliance and other security reports and respond accordingly.
  • Providing technical input for policies and procedures, and maintaining accurate documentation on those policies/procedures.
  • Adhering to Change/Configuration Management procedures and policies.
  • Research and investigate problems, diagnose and provide resolution or viable solutions for hardware and software issues; appropriately escalating and reporting recommendations clearly and effectively to management and team.
  • Familiarity with Putty, shell scripting, Toad, WinSCP, and other systems administration tools
  • Report to senior level team members and perform various support tasks as needed.


Qualifications

The following qualifications are REQUIRED to be considered for this role:

  • US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Candidate must successfully pass a Federal Background Investigation
  • Ability to work well in a team environment, promote customer service and handle complex technical issues
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft office products
  • Knowledge of Windows and/or Linux OS
  • Must be flexible, intuitive and self-motivated
  • Effective communication skills (oral and written).
  • Strong customer service and consultation skills.

  • Must be able to work closely with the technical team and various users / stakeholder representatives.
  • The ideal candidate will be working towards earning a Security + Certification.
