Position Title: Receptionist
Department: Human Resources
Location: Washington Service Center
Reports To: Chief Human Resources Officer
Compensation: Classified Salary Schedule - Range A
Bargaining Unit: OSEA
FTE: 1.0 FTE - 40 hours per week

** WORK HOURS: MONDAY - FRIDAY; 7:30am-4:30pm; in person **

General Description:
In alignment with the NWRESD's mission statement, this position provides receptionist duties
for the Washington Service Center. This includes exemplary customer service through telephone
and in-person contact with staff, students and parents, and the public. This position also
manages the room scheduling software for the Washington Service Center, and receives and
prepares outgoing mail. This position is also asked to provide a variety of clerical duties for
other departments as available.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform
each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the

1. High school diploma or equivalent
2. Excellent written and oral communication skills with a proven ability to communicate
with a variety of internal and external customers.
3. Possess organizational skills for effectively managing multiple tasks
4. Ability to handle and manage confidential information and prioritize actions/deliverables
with a high degree of discretion.
5. Ability to operate a variety of office equipment including computer, copier, FAX,
scheduling software, and other related equipment or machines
6. Proficient in the use of computer and internet based applications, including but
not limited to email, internet software, Google Suite, and word processing (MS Word)
7. Ability to maintain the integrity of confidential information and able to respond
sensitively to questions about student, family and staff members
8. Bilingual or knowledge of how to provide key information to non-English families and
patrons preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
1. High level of communication/interpersonal skills
2. Ability to work independently
3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
4. Possess organizational skills for optimally prioritizing and managing multiple tasks,
demonstrating initiative and problem solving skills
5. Experience with a variety of software, including Google and other office software
6. Basic knowledge of business systems
7. Ability to maintain the integrity of confidential information and able to respond
sensitively to questions about student and family matters
8. Solid understanding of spelling, punctuation, capitalization, word usage and sentence
structure of the English language
9. Experience with or ability to learn data entry
10. Ability to manage large groups of people attending meetings; and juggling competing
needs for meeting resources and rooms.
11. Bilingual preferred

Essential functions : Include the following. Performs some or all of the following tasks. Other Duties may be assigned . The duties listed below are not inclusive, but characteristic of the type and level of work assigned for this position.

A. Greets and assists ESD staff, students, family, volunteers, agency partners and
community members both in person and by phone - this includes routing calls, relaying
messages, receiving and directing visitors, determining priority matters promptly and
courteously
B. Screen inquiries of staff, students, parents, the public, etc. for the purpose of taking
appropriate action and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution
C. Perform various clerical tasks and secretarial duties for the organization as directed by
the Chief Human Resources Officer to include: maintaining room reservation calendars;
updating the schedule board, scheduling meetings, assistance with documentation,
correspondence, phone calls, paper and electronic filing, collection of data, meeting
minutes and preparation for meetings
D. Manage scheduling software for meeting room requests from NWRESD staff and partner
districts and agencies. This also includes:
a. Maintain Google slides that display daily schedule of meetings on wall monitor in
reception area to assist guests
b. Maintain room schedule signs and accurate meeting posting for patrons of
the ESD
E. Sort and distribute incoming mail; prepare outgoing mail
F. Maintain accurate records as required.
G. Respect the confidentiality of administration, staff, students, and organizations of the
community
H. Maintain a calm professional environment during times when interruptions, disruptions
and a stressful environment interfere with the flow of work
I. Cultivate and model a respectful working and learning
