Admission Advisor/Recruiter for College of Osteopathic Medicine

As a part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent many faith systems and worldviews, Marian University seeks an Admission Advisor/Recruiter for College of Osteopathic Medicine to promote our Catholic Franciscan mission and identity by being responsible for responding to inquiries, counseling prospective students, conducting tours, and representing the institution at regional recruitment fairs. The Admissions Advisor/Recruiter plays a crucial role in attracting and guiding prospective students through the admissions process. This position involves a combination of recruitment, advising, and administrative responsibilities. The role also includes managing relationships with advisors, conducting file reviews, and coordinating with student ambassadors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values and honoring the legacy of the founding congregation through transformative education, unity in diversity, leadership through service, integrating faith and life, and institutional policies.




      1. Process Applicants:



      • Manage and process applications, ensuring all required documents are submitted and completed.
      • Review and Screen applicant files.
      • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all applicant interactions and statuses.


      2. Respond to Prospective Student Inquiries:



      • Respond promptly to inquiries from prospective students via phone, email, and other communication platforms.
      • Provide detailed information about programs, admissions procedures, and decision timelines.


      3. Counsel Prospective Students:



      • Provide one-on-one counseling to prospective students about admissions requirements, program options, and next steps in the application process.
      • Assist students in understanding their admission status and guide them through any necessary steps to complete their application.


      4. Plan and Conduct Group Tours:



      • Organize and lead campus tours for prospective students.
      • Tailor tours to highlight specific programs or facilities of interest to prospective students.
      • Ensure a positive and informative experience that accurately reflects the MU-WCOM's offerings and culture.


      5. Coordinate Between BMS and DO:



      • Facilitate smooth transitions for students moving between these programs.


      6. Marian Pre-Med Pathway Development



      • Develop relationships and resources with/ for Marian Pre-Med Advisors and exposure to the COM for current Marian Undergraduate (Pre-Med) Students.


      7. Attend Regional Recruitment Fairs:



      • Represent the institution at regional and national recruitment fairs, presenting information about programs and admissions processes.


      8. Manage Advisor Lists/Relationships:



      • Develop and maintain relationships with pre-health advisors to promote the institution and its programs.


      9. Plan and Execute Admissions Events:



      • Collaborate on planning, coordinating, and executing on-campus and virtual events aimed at prospective and admitted students, such as open houses, information sessions, and admitted student days.
      • Work with other departments to ensure the success of these events.


      10. Advise Prospective Students on Admissions and Decisions:



      • Offer guidance on next steps for admitted students, including enrollment and orientation processes.


      11. Manage Student Ambassadors:



      • Help to recruit, train, and supervise student ambassadors who assist with tours, events, and other admissions-related activities.
      • Ensure ambassadors are well-prepared to represent the Marian University positively and accurately.


      Required Qualifications:



      • Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Marketing, or a related field.
      • Experience in admissions, recruitment, or a similar role within higher education.
      • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
      • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
      • Ability to travel regionally for recruitment events and fairs.
      • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.


      Working Conditions:



      • Full-time position with occasional evening and weekend work required.
      • Travel for recruitment events may be necessary.
      • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds for event setup.
