Summary of Role

We are seeking a skilled, individual contributor calibration technician within the Metrology department to perform calibration (basic to complex), maintenance of calibration records and notifications, and troubleshooting/repair of mechanical/electrical devices.

Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions



  • Performs routine and non-routine independent calibrations of assigned laboratory, manufacturing and radiation monitoring equipment following SOP's and in accordance with cGxP's.
  • Accurately follows oral and written procedures in calibrating more complex equipment and in performing test procedures.
  • Works with all types of Metrology test and support equipment.
  • Performs and documents tasks that require specialized judgment.
  • Possesses ability to apply specialized knowledge in performing calibrations tasks that are not fully described in standardized procedures.
  • Enter accurate calibration specific data using calibration software.
  • Tests, troubleshoots and repairs electrical and electromechanical components and systems using basic diagnostic devices.
  • Possesses ability to serve as the representative for the Metrology Organization.
  • Maintains records, laboratory and calibration equipment.
  • Has ability to use various types of simple and advanced calibration standards.
  • Performs problem solving.



Basic Qualifications



  • Requires a High School diploma with a concentration in electronics or mechanics and formal Metrology training.
  • A combination of education, training, and experience may be considered in lieu of above stated requirements.
  • This position is site-based and requires a presence on-site five days per week.



Other Requirements



  • Has knowledge of temperature, pressure, flow and other calibration principles
  • Possesses 2+ years' experience in the calibration field.
  • Has prior troubleshooting experience.
  • Has an understanding of the reasons behind, principles and requirements of GMP's in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Can accurately follow oral and written procedures in calibrating complex equipment and performing test procedures.
  • Can recognize gross deviations from normal results, and identity root cause.
  • Has developed an understanding of metrology practice and basic electronics theory.
  • Is knowledgeable in metrology terminology and principles and their applications.
  • Experienced using various types of calibration standards and exhibits expertise in techniques and operations.
  • Ability to perform and document tasks that require specialized judgment.
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical calculations in simulating and establishing operating parameters.
  • Ability to proficiently use computers, calibration software and basic electronic diagnostic equipment.
  • Functional in the use of PLC's to monitor instrumentation I/0, troubleshoot problems and make necessary minor repairs and or adjustments.
