The Automation Co-op will be responsible for determining and developing production processes for manufacturing operations consistent with team objectives. He or she will interact with automation, product engineering, manufacturing, and quality functions. There are opportunities for January 2025 - August 2025 and May 2025 - December 2025.
- Under the direction of the Team Leader, utilize judgment in performance of duties in conjunction with company policies, procedures, and processes.
- Perform process capabilities studies for various manufacturing processes. - Set up or expand method to track/trend.
- Work on assigned projects related to small equipment improvements. - Help define/design small upgrades or identify source for improved components.
- Work with High Performance Teams, Plant Supervisor and Process Engineer on miscellaneous continuous improvement projects.
- Assist with various related engineering functions, e.g., design, costs reduction, and quality control.
- Update and improve detail of plant layout drawings.
- Expand/fill in gaps with equipment preventive maintenance setup and spare parts stocking.
- Assist in the design, prototyping, and testing of small machines.
- Collaborate on technical documentation and reporting for engineering projects.
- Participate in projects related to machine design, prototyping and creating work orders with Bill of Materials and other relevant annotations.
Qualifications
- Classified as actively enrolled in a 4-year Degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology or related degree
- Previous internship experience preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office application and CAD systems, such as AutoCAD, ProE, etc., and 3D modeling of mechanical components
- Basic ability to understand programming and modifying automation systems
- Familiarity with industrial safety standards and protocols
- Basic programming knowledge in languages like Python or C#
- Understanding of pneumatics and hydraulics in mechanical systems
- Ability to assist with rapid prototyping and 3D printing
- Strong problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach to mechanical issues
- Familiarity with 2D CAD software, engineering principles and mechanical simulations.
