Job Summary

The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine is currently seeking a Coordinator of Student Affairs to join our team of professionals.

Duties include:

  • Assists in the development, implementation and evaluation for the Student Life and Development (SLAD) unit and Panther Learning Community (PLC) strategic plan as it relates to community service programs and services in alignment with the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine (HWCOM) mission and goals.
  • Provides guidance and assistance to medical students engaged in community service programs sponsored by the Office of Student Affairs, SLAD, co-curricular activities, Medical Student Council, and other recognized medical student organizations and interest groups at HWCOM.
  • Advises and supports medical students and organizations through supervision, training, and program development as it relates to Community Service Learning.
  • Conducts assessments measuring student learning who plan and/or participate in community service projects.
  • Collects and analyzes data as appropriate and suggests modifications to the SLAD programs.
  • Serves as liaison between students, faculty, and staff to facilitate communication and promote collaboration amongst HWCOM departments as it relates to community service-learning programming and activities.
  • Serves as a liaison between the Office of a student affairs and the community Medicine practicum course administrative staff.
  • Maintains relationships with community partners to develop programs in partnership with NeighborhoodHELP Outreach team.
  • Serves as a liaison between students, faculty, and the NeighborhoodHELP Outreach Team regarding community requests for programming and services.
  • Assists with the facilitation of the annual NeighborhoodHELP Community Service-Learning orientation.
  • Coordinates the planning, budgeting, scheduling, and implementing of all health fairs, educational outreach and other medical student programs and services in collaboration with student leaders within the NHELP partnered communities as well as signature programs and student services supported by SLAD.
  • Creates marketing materials and promotes HWCOM and the SLAD through various media outlets in order to enhance student engagement.
  • Tracks and evaluates the various community engagement activities in which the medical students are active participants.
  • Maintains databases of signature program activities and student participation for accreditation reporting.
  • Provides outcomes and data reports as requested to assist in annual programming to evaluate ongoing programs and services to ensure that outcome aligns with the HWCOM strategic plan.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of community engagement guidelines and resource tools to provide to medical students as defined in both the medical student and handbook.
  • Assists in coordinating and training volunteers for community service projects including but not limited to, annual health fairs, signature programs, and at-large events.
  • Provide articles, annual reports, policies, and forms to evaluate ongoing programs and services to ensure outcomes align with the HWCOM strategic plan.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
  • Serves as OSA unit liaison and collaborates with student committees to plan and execute student annual events and promote collaboration amongst the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine (HWCOM) departments as it relates to the Student Life and Development unit.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of experience or Master's degree in a related discipline.

Desired Qualifications

Previous experience in Student Affairs preferred.
