***TRAVEL REQUIRED: Must be able to deploy within 48-72 hours for Disaster work in the United States both CONUS and OCONUS.****

The contractor Facility Repairman will support the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to support disaster response operations and manage temporary facility support services. They are skilled professionals who handle a variety of tasks to ensure that buildings, equipment, and systems are functioning properly. The Facility Repairman is also responsible for responding to maintenance requests, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring the safety and functionality of the facility.

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Facility Repairman:

Pay commensurate with experience.

Facility Repairman Responsibilities Include:



  • Inspecting and diagnosing equipment, machinery, or systems to identify faults or malfunctions
  • Repairing or replacing defective parts, components, or systems using appropriate tools and techniques
  • Conducting routine maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns or malfunctions of temporary facility related equipment
  • Testing and evaluating equipment functionality after repairs or maintenance
  • Knowledge of federal ADA requirements
  • Ability to follow manuals, schematics, or technical specifications to ensure proper repair procedures
  • Providing clear explanations and guidance regarding repair processes, costs, and schedules
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, including parts used and work performed
  • Ability to adhere to safety guidelines, regulations, and company policies while performing repairs
  • Maintains knowledge of industry standards, codes, and best practices related to repair and maintenance
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned



Facility Repairman Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:



  • A bachelor's degree specialized in Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, and/or Plumbing or related fields with no less than 5 years of professional experience providing QA/QC, maintenance and repairs in a government environment preferably with FEMA or HHS.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills are not required but are preferred
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively via oral and written means
  • Ability to remain calm in the midst of difficult circumstances and emergencies
  • Proven experience in equipment repair, maintenance, or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and/or plumbing systems (MEP)
  • Proficiency in using various hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think analytically
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision
  • Effective communication skills to interact with customers and team members
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to perform repairs in various settings
  • The ability to successfully pass a drug screen and a federal background check is mandatory
  • Past applicable job experience may include, but is not limited to: Maintenance Technician, Facility Worker, or Maintenance Specialist.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
