Overview

Skyworks Cedar Rapids design team has leading R&D and product development capabilities and is seeking engineering talent with expertise in RF/microwave, RFIC design, Acoustic Filter and PA product development to meet rapidly increasing customer demand.

We are looking for a highly motivated EM/Module Design Engineering Manager to lead RF Front End designs. You will work with other RFIC, filter, packaging, module and lab teams to create the most advanced 5G front-end products. You will be expected to innovate and work in a fast-paced market to help to define and realize products as a lead.

Job Responsibilities

  • Leada team of engineers to design and develop 5G cellular handset module products
  • Work closely with project DRI and other stakeholders to manage and communicate dynamically evolving requirements and aggressive schedules
  • Coordinatethe schedules and activities of the team with responsibility for results, including design performance, methods, etc.
  • Participatein all phases of product development, including product definition, architecture, system budget, transistor-level circuit design, MCM design, layout/layout supervision, lab debug and production support
  • Own floor-planning which includesmodule pinouts, package size, signal flows plan, package technology, link budget, etc.
  • As the hub of front-end module design, you will drive the front-end design and work with a multi-discipline team developing PA, RF switches, LNA, acoustic filters to achieve optimum module performance for the high volume and fast paced cellular handset market
  • Ensurethe designs and technology are robust and manufacturable, with strong and sustainable yield moving into production
  • Take a lead on the new technology/architecture suggestion with comprehensive and accurate analysis
  • Drive module design methodologies and simulation modeling/flow to improve accuracy and efficiency
  • Drive the module design review and tape-out
  • Involvementand support of the new package technology development
  • Engage in EDA design tool development

Required Experience/Skills

  • Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering + 6 years' experience or PhD+ 3 years' experience
  • Proven leadership in Front-end product design innovation
  • Solid understanding in module building blocks, including Power Amplifiers, Low Noise Amplifiers, RF Switches and Couplers, Filters and Multi-chip Module
  • Relevant experience in (micro-strip/strip line stack up) multi-chip module (MCM), PA, LNA , RF switch design or passive circuit design such as integrated passive device, coupler, BAW/SAW filters and balun
  • Strong circuit simulation skills utilizing Agilent ADS, 2.5/3D EM tools such as HFSS and ability to translate between the model, simulation, physical implementation, and measured performance
  • A self-starter and team player with strong desire to learn on the job. Strong desire and commitment to take product from concept to volume production.
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written and logic reasoning skills, capable of breaking down complex problems, setting priorities, reporting progress and executingto schedule

Preferred Skills

  • Good understanding of RF systems and familiarity with wireless standards including 3GPP cellular 2/3/4/5G/LTE, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth
  • Solid understanding of device and process technologies
  • Experience in system architecture, circuit topology and MCM floorplan
  • Experience in FEM product development and customer interaction
  • Good understanding ofacoustic filter such as SAW, BAW filters
  • Experience in co-sim of multiple technologies such as digital, analog and RF circuit
  • Familiar with lab instruments including Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, RF Probe Stations, Noise Figure Analyzers and Load-pull Tuners

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD$112,500 -$215,900 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different base pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S. Benefits include access to healthcare benefits (including a premium-free medical plan option), a 401(k) plan and company match, an employee stock purchase plan, paid time off (including vacation, sick/wellness, parental leave), among others. Employees are eligible to participate in an incentive plan, and certain roles are also eligible for additional awards, including recognition and stock.
