Carpenter

This role, Carpenter, will work under the supervision of the lead carpenter and his associated supervisor. This position will cover the entire campus and will require coordination and interactions with clinical, research and administrative groups. Working in a large environment is a plus. Teamwork is a must. This is a rapidly changing environment that may require changing goals and tasks to meet the demands of the facility. You must have reasonable computer skills and be prepared to with both a desktop and/or tablet to maximize usage of our CMMS software. Good language skills and a desire to listen first and act later.

Job Responsibilities:

• Interpret and clarify work orders for all types of carpentry. Evaluate to ensure request do not violate codes. Respond to request with time frame of completion and cost estimate.
• Provide assistance and direction for project helpers. Coordinate and assign specific job duties. Ensure quality quantity thoroughness of helpers assigned duty.
• Order materials according to specification. Interpret blue print sketches to determine specific material list. Evaluate inventory and reorder necessary material as needed.
• Assist staff with related work order to accurately determine specific needs. Draw rough sketches to assure clear understanding of request. Accurately measure items or areas in order to fabricate or submit to vendor for cost estimate
• Use hand and power tools to fabricate necessary request. Accurately use equipment to perform quality work to meet specifications.
• Install finished millwork submitted by vendor or others. Evaluate to insure meet designed specifications. Assemble and install accurately.
• Possess temperament to meet public and staff in a tactful pleasant and helpful manner. Tactfully discuss unpleasant problems. Present pleasant and helpful manner with patient and staff.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or directed in order to meet the goals and objectives of the department.
• Maintains regular and predictable attendance.

Minimum Education and/or Training:

• High school diploma or equivalent

Minimum Experience:

• Minimum of five years experience as a general carpenter.
• Up to four years on-the-job training to learn various carpentry operations.
