Job Description

The Floating Project Accountant will support Project Accountant vacancies or additional accounting needs at the project level or Equus Support Center. Key responsibilities include tracking, analyzing, and reporting project financial status, overseeing local accounting staff, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and corporate policies. The role also involves directing fiscal operations related to financial planning, funds management, accounting, reporting, and disbursement. Additionally, the Project Accountant will manage monthly general labor reporting for operating expenses, including payroll and capital expenses, while preparing monthly projections, the annual budget, and supporting the annual audit.

  • Manage Accounts Receivable and Billing
  • Close process and financial review
  • Prepare and maintain budgets, forecasts, and cash flows across multiple funding streams and communicate the contract's financial position
  • Manage accounts payable and client services payments
  • Advanced knowledge of audit and internal control issues
  • Supervise financial/accounting staff
  • Prepare financial performance reviews and maintain project financial data
  • Maintain customer relationship
  • Assist with training of newly hired project accountant
  • Be able to travel a minimum of 25%
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in business, accounting, finance or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years accounting experience.
  • Must have demonstrated Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), be able to interpret balance sheets and profit/loss reports, and write and implement financial management policies and procedures.
  • Experience with automated accounting systems, payroll, budgeting, accounts receivable, and multi-fund or cost accounting
  • Must have excellent teamwork, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be driven and action-oriented and are comfortable multitasking and meeting multiple, tight deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work across all levels of management and staff.
