Position Summary

Position will be responsible for performing high mix/ low volume manual TIG welding of Stainless Steel and Aluminium in a high-quality medical device manufacturing environment.

Duties

  • Set-up and operate TIG welding equipment using prescribed methods and procedures to weld parts within acceptable tolerances and standards.
  • Read and interpret welding blueprints including standard welding symbols, travelers, and other work instruction documents. Use required measuring instruments and gages to check and ensure parts meet dimensional requirements.
  • Capable of mentoring and training all Welders. Assist in problem solving activities. Ability to interpret AWS standards and welding symbols.
  • Supports the design and fabrication of fixtures and jigs needed to weld components.
  • Ability to perform troubleshooting of welding equipment, materials, and fixturing.
  • Ability to produce all product lines within the designated area and mobility to other product lines.
  • Provide expert knowledge, instruction, and oversight to the Welding Teams in their performance.
  • Creates and documents standard work and welding instruction for MTO and regular products. Determines the sequence, process and fixtures needed to weld MTO (Make to Order) product using the product blue prints.
  • Train and guide production welders during the introduction of new production items. Capable of performing visual welding inspections.
  • Recommend and develop tools and fixtures for improving quality and productivity.

Education Degree
  • High School Diploma or GED
Required Experience

  • 5 - 7 years Welding experience.
  • 2 years of experience working in a solid metal fabrication / machining environment required.
  • Must be able to use prescribed manual processes in TIG welding of stainless steel, mild steel, and aluminium.
  • Must be able to read and interpret welding blueprints, including all standard welding symbols.
  • Must be able to use precision measuring instruments and gages.

Preferred Experience

  • Welding experience in flux core, MIG, stick, carbon steel, preferred.
  • Must be able to use prescribed manual processes in TIG welding of stainless steel, mild steel, and aluminium.
  • Must be able to read and interpret welding blueprints, including all standard welding symbols.
  • Must have strong math and troubleshooting proficiency and basic computer skills.
  • Must have basic welding inspection knowledge and conduct visual inspection.
  • Subject matter expert of all processes and fabrication techniques within the assigned team.
