Senior Hydrogeologist

Are you an experienced Geologist who specializes in hydrogeologic investigations seeking a challenging opportunity to expand your technical knowledge and skills working on large scale energy and nuclear projects? S&ME is looking for an eager and dedicated full-time Senior Hydrogeologist to join our Civil team. While it is preferred this individual reside in Charlotte, we are open to this individual being based in Knoxville, Greensboro, Greenville-Spartanburg, Columbia and surrounding areas.

About the Role:

As a Senior Hydrogeologist, you will be pivotal in planning, developing, coordinating, and directing significant hydrogeologic investigations and projects of major scope and importance. Serving as a technical expert within our Energy Markets, including power generation, nuclear, waste management, and mining, you will tackle complex problem areas through comprehensive and conceptually related studies. You will service clients in natural gas, electricity distribution, nuclear, water resources and dams, renewables, mining facilities, waste management, and municipalities. You will also mentor, train, and oversee the work of subordinate professionals, ensuring the highest standards of technical excellence and project delivery.




  • Project Management: Manage projects from start to finish, overseeing client communication, proposals, field operations, and financials.
  • Field Investigations: Execute detailed field investigations for complex projects and prepare comprehensive environmental reports, permit applications, and work plans.
  • Proposal Leadership: Lead on proposals of unusual size or complexity, driving business development and maintaining client relationships.
  • Mentorship: Mentor junior staff, providing guidance and training to develop their skills and expertise.
  • Industry Engagement: Actively engage in professional industry organizations to stay current with industry trends and expand professional networks.



About You:



  • You have a Bachelor's (or higher, a plus) degree in Geology
  • You have 10+ years of relevant experience
  • You are a Professional Geologist (PG)
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills; attention to detail; and ability to meet deadlines
  • You are proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word, and able to learn commercial software applications
