General Position Overview

The Material Handling Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the material handling team. This role ensures efficient and accurate handling, storage, and movement of materials within the warehouse or manufacturing facility. The Material Handling Lead will coordinate with various departments, manage inventory, maintain a safe and organized work environment and implement process improvements.

Essential Job Functions

  • Demonstrates SoundOff Signal's Core Values in daily interactions with internal and external customers.
  • Oversee and manage the material handling team, including hiring, training, and evaluating performance.
  • Schedule and assign work tasks to ensure efficient operations.
  • Coordinate the receipt, storage, and distribution of materials and products, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance material flow, reduce waste, and improve overall efficiency
  • Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for material handling activities.
  • Utilize lean manufacturing principles to streamline workflows and reduce waste.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
  • Monitor inventory levels to anticipate needs and prevent shortages or overstock situations.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the warehouse or storage facility.
  • Identify inventory discrepancies and coordinate with Inventory Control to resolve.
  • Ensure all team members adhere to safety guidelines and regulations. Conduct regular safety checks and address any hazards promptly
  • Ensure proper labeling and documentation of materials
  • Able to read and follow SoundOff Signal Work Instructions.
  • Other tasks and projects as assigned by the Inventory Manager.
  • Able to perform job consistently without excessive absenteeism or tardiness.

Physical/Mental/Sensory

Requirements

  • Able to lift up to 55 lbs.
  • Able to stand, sit, and rotate for various lengths of time.
  • Able to bend/twist and reach a limited amount of time.
  • Able to grip small parts for various lengths of time.

Working Conditions

  • Office environment including:
  • Light to Moderate noise level
  • Moderate temperature ranges

Minimum Requirements

(Education, Experience, and Certification)

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Additional training or certification in lean manufacturing or supply chain management is a plus.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment, with a focus on material handling or logistics. Leadership experience preferred
  • Ability to read and write the English language with a high degree of accuracy.
