Position Summary:
The
Department of Mathematical Sciences (DMS) at the New Jersey Institute of
Technology seeks candidates to fill a tenure-track position at the assistant or
associate professor level in the areas of statistical data science and machine
learning. The appointment is expected to start in Fall 2025.
Essential Functions:
- Conduct research; pursue funding; engage in scholarly activities such as publishing papers in scientific journals and presenting work at conferences and research and educational institutions; supervise and guide graduate and undergraduate students and postdoctoral scientists on research.
- Teach graduate and undergraduate courses; develop courses and contribute to curriculum improvement.
- Participate in service activities within the Department, College, University, and the Profession.
Prerequisite Qualifications:
- Candidates
should have a Ph.D. in Statistics, Data Science, or related discipline with
strong research, funding, and teaching potential.
- The department is
particularly interested in candidates who, in addition to demonstrating
research excellence, will be highly effective at teaching data science and
statistics courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites
may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the
university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically
preparing the candidate for success in the position.
