Summary Full-time, 12-month tenure-track teaching faculty position in the Theater/Communication department beginning with the Fall 2025 semester at Northampton Community College. The directing and teaching load is 15 credits/semester; 30 credits/academic year. The summer theater program managing and directing responsibilities will be shared with a team of administrators and colleagues. In addition to teaching, all faculty members must engage in substantive college service activities and professional growth activity every year and advise students. M.F.A. in Directing required, Ph.D. in Theater preferred; 3 years college teaching experience (preferably in a community college), ability to meet the needs of community college students; experience working with students from culturally diverse backgrounds; current knowledge of academic assessment practices; and willingness to collaborate with colleagues also important. Responsibilities Responsibilities will include teaching Directing, Acting, Introduction to Theater; directing two major productions and one workshop production each year during the academic year. This position will also oversee the summer musical theater program and direct one summer musical. Program coordination duties are a necessary component of the position. The successful candidate will work with a faculty colleague, a Program Assistant who is a scene & lighting designer and serves as the Managing Directer for the summer theater program. NCC has two theaters: a 350 seat thrust theater and a 90 seat black box. All candidates for this position will be asked to do a teaching demonstration for the search committee. |
