SSOE is seeking a skilled and experienced Sr. Mechanical Engineer to join our team. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the design of state-of-the-art semiconductor, battery, and industrial systems for the world's leading high-tech companies. As a Sr. Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for working with other lead/contributing Mechanical Engineers, design teams, and Sr. Project Managers to create and problem-solve exciting and complex designs that incorporate some of the latest design techniques, while ensuring that all specifications are met, and to ensure timely completion of projects. This position is an onsite role that will require you to work onsite each day and be located in the N. Phoenix, AZ area. Remote or hybrid work arrangements for this role are not available.



Responsibilities

    Responsible for leading/producing technical project plans, specifications, drawings, and models that meet our specifications and client needs.
  • Responsible for creating, influencing, and finalizing designs involving industrial and domestic piping, plumbing, chillers, boilers, HVAC ducting, exhaust, motor control, process chemicals, wastewater discharge, Fire Protection systems and possibly other mechanical building systems.
  • Create detailed engineering designs, specifications, and drawings using software such as Revit, AutoCAD, P&IDs, and PIPE-FLO.
  • Will work with Sr. Engineers, Project Managers, and other stakeholders on specific assigned objectives, complex features, and aid in deriving possible solutions to unusual problems.
  • Applies standard design techniques and procedures and exercising judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications to design concepts. Ensure quality control by complying with company and team design and CAD standards.
  • Coordinate needs, designs, and develop an understanding with other design disciplines (Electrical, Structural, Process/Chemical, Architectural, etc.) for design package needs.
  • Effectively lead, direct, and mentor associate engineers and designers, with an emphasis on employee growth, project success, and overall performance.
  • Perform field verifications / site walks to identify, verify, resolve, and incorporate solutions into design packages. May troubleshoot design problems in the field during construction.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, which qualifies for licensure in the state of practice, is required.
  • An active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of practice or the ability to obtain reciprocity within 6 months of employment is required.
  • Experience working with AutoCAD (or similar CAD system) is required. Experience with Revit, Navisworks, PIPE-FLO or similar hydraulic modeling software is a plus.
  • Demonstrated knowledge or experience with designs containing HVAC, chillers, boilers, pump hydraulics, exhaust, process chemicals, wastewater discharge, or other similar mechanical building systems.
  • Experience performing field verifications and site walks to identify, verify, resolve, and incorporate solutions into design packages. Ability to troubleshoot design problems in the field.
  • The ability to interface with customers to define scope of work and basis of design.
  • Salary Range: $90,000 - $140,000/year depending on location, education, experience, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
