Precises seeking a Content Strategist to lead the development of the content strategy and information architecture framework for a modernized .gov web presence In this role, you will collaborate closely with developers, UX designers, and technical teams to build a cohesive content structure in a Drupal environment that aligns with the project's data model and enhances usability across multiple applications, while establishing and tracking quality metrics for content and design.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct a comprehensive requirements analysis to identify common entities, content types, and content fields required across multiple applications (e.g., events, documents, users, articles).
  • Define a shared Data Model in Drupal, establishing relationships between content types using reusable fields, taxonomy, and entity reference fields, ensuring all data adheres to established quality standards.
  • Develop structured content strategies and frameworks that support the project's goals of consistency, reusability, and high-quality content management.
  • Create a detailed Information Architecture (IA) that defines and documents content types, relationships, and data flow, and develop an API strategy to support data sharing in multiple formats (e.g., JSON, SOAP/XML, CSV).
  • Lead content modeling sessions and document content types, fields, and relationships to ensure alignment with the established data model, while incorporating quality metrics for data accuracy, completeness, and usability.
  • Establish content governance strategies and content workflows for managing roles and permissions, supporting various content stages, including draft, review, and publish.
  • Implement quality control measures throughout the content creation, migration, and maintenance processes, leveraging automated testing and validation techniques to maintain data integrity and adherence to design specifications.
  • Create and maintain the project's Style Guide, defining design principles, typography, colors, spacing, and UI components (e.g., navigation, cards, modals) that meet usability and accessibility standards.
  • Facilitate usability testing and ensure that design components adhere to best practices for accessibility, responsiveness, and simplicity.
  • Develop standardized views and reporting mechanisms in Drupal to track content performance and quality metrics, providing visibility into project health and adherence to project goals.
  • Create and maintain content management and technical documentation, ensuring that all changes are logged and managed through government project tracking systems.

Required Skills:

  • Proven success in researching, marketing and analyzing various web content requirements and gaps.
  • Proven experience in developing and marketing content strategies.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills in demonstrating clear and concise messages that align with strategic content frameworks.
  • Extensive experience in designing and optimizing web content for various platforms and devices.

Requirements:

  • Education: Minimum BA/BS degree in a related field.
  • Experience: 6-8 years of experience in content strategy, information architecture, or digital communications for large-scale, content-rich websites.
  • Tools and Technologies: Experience with Drupal CMS, configuration management, and content modeling tools.
  • Quality Metrics and Standards: Proven ability to define, track, and improve quality metrics for content and data models, ensuring adherence to standards and project goals.
  • Standards and Compliance: Strong understanding of accessibility requirements, U.S. Web Design Standards, 21st Century IDEA (Act), and OMB M-23-22.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Content Governance: Experience in developing content governance strategies, workflows, and user training materials.
  • Agile Methodologies: Knowledge of Agile practices, with proven experience working in a Scrum or similar Agile team environment.
  • Design and UX Knowledge: Familiarity with developing style guides, creating shared design systems, and applying Human Centered Design (HCD) methodologies.
