Summary of Job Duties:The Assistant Administrator for Patient Care is an integral part of the Arkansas Children's Triad Leadership team and works closely with Service/Section Chief(s) and ACH director(s) to support the missions and visions of UAMS and Arkansas Children's, jointly set and ensure strategic direction of the Section. This position will facilitate patient and family-centered care, including patient satisfaction, through disseminating data from and sharing data in support of Arkansas Children's scorecard per AC and UAMS policies. The Assistant Administrator for Patient Care directs UAMS administrative and financial responsibilities for identified sections. This position serves as the primary liaison to centralized campus functions such as human resources and revenue cycle management. The Assistant Administrator for Patient Care is responsible for fostering provider relationships and ensuring all provider activities including patient schedules, operations, patient volumes, and other activities are maximized through collaboration with ACH leadership. The role of the Assistant Administrator for Patient Care is to provide leadership and facilitate horizontal collaboration, and communication and to fully support interdisciplinary and team performance. Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, healthcare administration, finance, accounting, or related field plus ten (10) years of management experience with progressive responsibility, including supervisory experience or

  • Master's degree in business administration, healthcare administration, finance, accounting, or related field plus eight (8) years of management experience with progressive responsibility, including supervisory experience required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Requires finance, budgeting, and accounting knowledge, as well as knowledge of institutional and departmental business and financial processes.

  • Ability to address problems and/or coordinate resolution with the appropriate campus resources.

  • Knowledge of recruiting, personnel management, and faculty promotion and tenure processes.

  • Ability to manage a diverse group of professional and administrative staff

Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Development and implementation of the annual budget includes expense budgeting and revenue projection related to appropriated, discretionary, endowment and gift revenues, as well as grants and contracts.

  • Ensures all reporting and tracking requirements are followed to comply with the rules of the contracting or granting entity and is responsible for compliance with all applicable UAMS rules and procedures.

  • Assists with the implementation of the department's faculty compensation plan.

  • Tracks faculty productivity, salary distributions, and faculty assignments to accurately report and project faculty effort allocation and productivity.

  • Responsible for purchasing, travel, and financial transactions.

  • May create and monitor recharge centers/core facilities.

  • Oversees prompt payment of invoices and related research of any errors.

  • Provides expertise and assistance to faculty regarding grant/contract preparation, budgeting and reporting, in collaboration with College or UAMS centralized services.

  • Collects data, prepares reports, and compiles statistics for section use.

  • Provides and interprets monthly and annual data to the section chiefs.

  • Responsible for departmental staff recruitment, hiring, supervision, training, and performance management, as well as creating an operating environment where efficiency, effectiveness, and service are priorities.

  • Provides leadership and guidance to management and administrative staff, coordinates activities of the staff, and distribution the workload to ensure appropriate mission support for the section.

  • Focuses on developing a talented workforce by guiding the staff to engage in appropriate educational and training opportunities.

  • Conducts annual evaluations and goal setting with the staff, to reinforce the section/department mission and relevance of each position to accomplishing departmental goals.

  • Works with the UAMS Office of Human Resources to ensure compliance with all UAMS and departmental rules and procedures.

  • Facilitates faculty recruitment, hiring, resolution of immigration issues and requirements, promotion/tenure processes, and performance management/evaluations under the leadership of the section chief.

  • Provides ongoing decision support and analytics for the section.

  • Works with the Section Chief to develop/implement performance goals and objectives.

  • Collaborates with the Department, College, other UAMS divisions, and ACH on business development activities, such as contracts, grants, and fundraising.

  • Oversees business aspects of the section's clinical practice at Arkansas Children's Hospital.

  • Works with the ACS Practice director to implement clinical practice initiatives and policies.

  • Provides analytics regarding clinical practice and recommends changes that would positively impact the practice.

  • Responsible for working with and maintaining relationships for the sections with leaders at UAMS and ACH.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
