Associate Designers on the Experience Design team bring a user-centered design sensibility to KeyBank's client experiences. We are seeking a talented, collaborative designer who is skilled at all facets of UX and the design thinking process and excels at interaction design, user testing, critical thinking, ideating, and prototyping, and collaboration.

Over one million customers log in to our apps every day to do their banking. In this role you will have accountability for the UX/UI design of high-visibility user flows and interactions. You will work in an Agile environment on a dedicated squad. You will be expected to own the entire experience and user journeys within it.

The successful candidate will be a design advocate who brings an informed, relevant design perspective to the team. They will be as motivated by optimization and results as they are by compelling creative and design. This is an integral position on our team within the Client & Employee Experience group that enables Key to deliver exceptional experiences by aligning data-driven action to the needs of our current and future clients and teammates.

Competencies:

  • 1-3+ years in a design field with an online portfolio of proven UX/product design team experience practicing within established UX frameworks and methodologies
  • Experience working in an Agile development process
  • Skilled at graphic, visual, and interaction design for web and mobile experiences
  • A standout design portfolio representing your design problem-solving process and the simple, useful, intuitive design outcomes that comes from it
  • Strong experience creating wireframes, prototypes, storyboards, user flows, personas, and process flows
  • Confident presentation of designs with ability to bring various stakeholders around to your point of view
  • Ability to create multiple design options for review and implementation
  • Ability to solve problems imaginatively based on research, user feedback, and other input
  • Ability to iterate and optimize in response to effectiveness of creative
  • Proficiency using Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Confluence/Jira and other visual design and UX tools
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript a plus
  • Ability to create rapid prototypes using Figma
  • Up-to-date with the latest visual design, UI/UX trends, techniques, and technologies
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate with product owners, front-end developers and engineers
  • Possess a team-first mindset
  • BS, BA, MA or Certificate in Visual Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, or related field
  • Previous financial services experience will be strongly considered
  • Experience working in client environments or at a creative agency serving a financial services client a plus

Activities:

  • Have primary accountability for all UX/UI and other design work for assigned products/squads
  • Develop detailed prototypes, wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows, and other visual design representations to effectively conceptualize design ideas and communicate interaction behaviors
  • Partner with a UX writer to create successful user experiences that deliver against established product goals and objectives
  • Work independently and with assigned Design Lead to conduct relevant Discovery/Analysis, Ideation, Prototyping, and Testing to inform, develop, and refine design approaches
  • Participate in user research activities and have the ability to conduct design validation such as usability testing
  • Collaborate with product management and engineering to lead the definition and implementation of creative that supports product direction and customer experience
  • Lead the execution of all visual design and user interface stages from concept to final hand-off to production
  • Anchor your work in Key's Design Thinking framework and curriculum
  • Adhere to established KeyBank Brand Guidelines, Visual and Motion Style Guides, Copy Style Guide, and the Key Design System
  • Consistently contribute a user-centered design perspective to the team to ensure communications are relevant to both user needs and business objectives
  • Gather and evaluate user requirements in collaboration with product managers and engineers and then translate into visually relevant, response-generating design deliverables
  • Translate complex business requirements into storyboards, user flows, wireframes, visual design mockups, process flows and sitemaps to effectively conceptualize and communicate detailed interaction behaviors
  • Ability to create mock-ups and prototypes that support user research by communicating design ideas, direction, and interactions
  • Conduct design adjustments based on user feedback and testing
  • Reconcile qualitative and quantitative research into actionable design recommendations
  • Develop and maintain detailed design documentation
  • Present and defend designs and key milestone deliverables to peers and teammates
  • Proactively identify potential UX problems (e.g. responsiveness, logic errors)
  • Work closely with development teams to ensure that design specifications are properly tested and implemented

Advocate for Design Thinking and Key Studio principles across the organization

* This position will ideally be located at Key's Tiedeman office in Brooklyn, OH but it may be located at another Key Bank location or it may be remote if the final candidate is not near a Key Bank location.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $65,000 to $75,000 annually depending on job-related factors such as level of experience. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for short-term incentive compensation and deferred incentive compensation subject to individual and company performance.

Key has implemented a role-based Mobile by Design approach to our employee workspaces, dedicating space to those whose roles require specific workspaces, while providing flexible options for roles which are less dependent on assigned workspaces and can be performed effectively in a mobile environment. As a result, this role may be Mobile or Home-based, which means you may work primarily either at a home office or in a Key facility to perform your job duties.
