Short Intro and About the Job
At Danone, Manufacturing the best products and supplying them to meet demand is a key driver for our plant teams. We have an opening for an Environmental Health and Safety Manager in our Springfield, Oregon (Eugene, Oregon) dairy free ice cream manufacturing facility. In this role, you will be responsible for the development and execution of EHS programs to ensure that the Company provides a safe workplace for employees and minimizes impacts to the environment. You will lead compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulation, and will implement a sustainable environmental, health and safety management system at a plant level and drive EHS performance improvement and efficiency. This position will participate in the Danone North America EHS Leadership Network. RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
Develops, implements, and drives cost-effective compliance training, and regulatory safety and environmental programs.
- Develops and implements EHS programs, policies, procedures and best practice techniques, implements new regulatory requirements, and provides control measures that reduce or eliminate risks to the Company.
- Builds a proactive safety culture at the plant through a WISE2 Safety Management System and create an environment where employees and leadership are engaged in working safely.
- Implements and maintains EHS Management Systems.
- Conducts EHS facility assessments, identifies areas for improvement, and leads corrective actions (from plant and corporate/3rd party audits).
- Reports EHS results to manufacturing Plant Director and Sr. Director, Environmental Health and Safety, and participates in audits of other facilities.
- Oversees all EHS training programs and requirements for the plant.
- Investigates injuries/illnesses, near-misses and environmental incidents and determines root cause of incidences and provides corrective action plans.
- Manages and tracks injury and illness data and environmental metrics and leads reduction in injury and illness rates and environmental impact and costs to the plant.
- Serves as a champion for Sustainability projects.
- Prepares, maintains, and complies with federal, state, and local agency environmental reporting and permitting, and Corporate EHS Standards.
- Fosters atmosphere of collaboration and alignment with plant peers and their teams.
- Advises on all EHS legislation and legal requirements to ensure facility maintains ongoing compliance with OSHA/EPA requirements, safety standards, wastewater treatment plant operations, air permits, and waste management practices.
- Serves as the interface with local, state and federal agencies.
- Develops and coaches any direct reports and production and functional leaders.

About You
- You have a Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Health, or related field required. Equivalent combination of education/ related certifications and experience (minimum 7 years of EHS experience) will be considered in lieu of completed bachelor's degree.
- You have a minimum 5 years' experience applying OSHA and EPA regulations and have a minimum 5 years of plant manufacturing experience, preferably in the fast-paced consumer goods food/beverage industry.
- You have demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.

- You have demonstrated effective management and delegation skills.
- You have demonstrated ability to serve as a change agent to drive process improvements and cultural change.
- You have demonstrated ability to be adaptable and flexible to a fluid environment, adjusting work schedule to support a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
- You have demonstrated ability to perform under pressure, effectively handling conflict, managing strict deadlines, and multiple tasks.
- You have demonstrated ability to assess and implement EHS best practices.
- You have demonstrated excellent organization, recordkeeping, and documentation skills.
- You have demonstrated interpersonal skills associated with developing trusting relationships.
- You have demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office products and various other software systems.
- You have demonstrated ability to identify problems, draw conclusions, and make recommended solutions.
