Description

As an Equipment Engineer (EE) at Polar Semiconductor in Bloomington, MN, you are responsible for monitoring, sustaining, and improving the equipment and/or processes for the Axcelis GSD, Axcelis 8250, Axcelis Purion, and AMAT VIISTA equipment types, while working in partnership with production, process, and maintenance team members. EE's monitor tool performance to adapt pm frequencies and schedules, along with developing robust pm procedures and checklists. Coordinating with OEM's and other vendors to ensure proper stocking level of spare parts, pricing and addressing supply down issues. They are responsible to assist with equipment installs, tests, develop equipment procedures, and improve tool uptime through systematic problem solving and troubleshooting, sponsoring quality workmanship, thoroughly document all maintenance performed in established check sheets and tracking programs, and a routine review of maintenance check sheets and procedures. They monitor, analyze, and address SPC issues for area processes daily and respond to SPC out of control issues.

Job Duties

  • Complete all required safety training and conduct all work in accordance with safety policies.
  • Develop high level troubleshooting skills and proliferate across maintenance department.
  • Work with OEM's/vendors for equipment support.
  • Ensure proper stocking/pricing of crib parts.
  • Develop controlled documentation (PM procedures, check-sheets, work instructions, etc.).
  • Disassemble, repair, and reassemble equipment according to operating manuals, schematics, blueprints, etc.
  • Safely perform work in a hazardous environment utilizing proper Personal Protective Equipment (including SCBA or respirator).
  • Interface between process engineering and maintenance technicians.
  • Engage in systematic troubleshooting to identify root-cause of failures.
  • Minimize tool down-time and variability to increase equipment availability.
  • Document all maintenance activities in Equipment Management System.
  • Drive Critical to Quality Initiatives (CQI) and cost reduction projects.
  • Monitor, analyze, and address SPC issues.
  • Support and maintain 5S activities.
  • Communicate issues effectively to all team members.
  • Partner with Production team members and area engineers to support equipment.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of electronics and control systems, mechanics / robotics, hydraulics, pneumatics and vacuum systems, heat transfer, fluid mechanics. Skill in diagnosing equipment issues. Verbal and written communication.
  • Skill in diagnosing equipment issues
  • Knowledge of test and calibration equipment (i.e. O-scopes, DMMs).
  • Understanding of SPC principles.
  • PC skills and familiarity with MS Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to properly use common hand tools.
  • Ability to properly use personal protective equipment.
  • Demonstrated time management and prioritization skills.
  • Ability in multi-tasking complex projects.
  • Ability to follow procedures and work with minimal supervision.
  • Requires bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.

Preferred

  • Experience on Axcelis GSD, Axcelis 8250, Axcelis Purion, and AMAT VIISTA ion implantation equipment.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Sharepoint, TEAMs, and PowerBI.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Project Management experience.
